ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਅ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਸਿੰਚੇ ਮਾਇ ॥
tritī bivasathā sinchē māi .
In the third stage of life, he gathers the wealth of Maya.
ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੨॥
biradh bhaiā shōd chaliō pashutāi .2.
And when he grows old, he must leave all this; he departs regretting and repenting. ||2||
ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥
chirankāl pāī drulabh dēh .
After a very long time, one obtains this precious human body, so difficult to obtain.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਖੇਹ ॥
nām bihūnī hōī khēh .
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, it is reduced to dust.
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇ ਬੁਰੀ ॥
pasū parēt mugadh tē burī .
Worse than a beast, a demon or an idiot,
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਸਿਰੀ ॥੩॥
tisah n būjhai jin ēh sirī .3.
is that one who does not understand who created him. ||3||
ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
sun karatār gōvind gōpāl .
Listen, O Creator Lord, Lord of the Universe, Lord of the World,
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
dīn daiāl sadā kirapāl .
Merciful to the meek, forever compassionate
ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਡਾਵਹੁ ਛੁਟਕਹਿ ਬੰਧ ॥
tumah shadāvah shutakah bandh .
- if You emancipate the human, then His bonds are broken.
ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗ ਅੰਧ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੩॥
bakhas milāvah nānak jag andh .4.12.23.
O Nanak, the people of world are blind; please, Lord, forgive them, and unite them with Yourself. ||4||12||23||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
rāmakalī mahalā 5 .
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਬਨਾਈ ਕਾਛਿ ॥
kar sanjōg banāī kāsh .
Joining the elements together, the robe of the body is fashioned.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਇਆਨਾ ਰਾਚਿ ॥
tis sang rahiō iānā rāch .
The ignorant fool is engrossed in it.
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥
pratipārai nit sār samārai .
He cherishes it, and constantly takes care of it.
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
ant kī bār ūth sidhārai .1.
But at the very last moment, he must arise and depart. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥
nām binā sabh jhūth parānī .
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, everything is false, O mortal.
ਗੋਵਿਦ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂਠੁ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gōvid bhajan bin avar sang rātē tē sabh māiā mūth parānī .1. rahāu .
Those who do not vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, but instead are imbued with other things, - all those mortals are plundered by Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ਨ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
tīrath nāi n utaras mail .
Bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, filth is not washed off.
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਭਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਫੈਲੁ ॥
karam dharam sabh haumai phail .
Religious rituals are all just egotistical displays.
ਲੋਕ ਪਚਾਰੈ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
lōk pachārai gat nahī hōi .
By pleasing and appeasing people, no one is saved.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਣੇ ਚਲਸਹਿ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥
nām bihūnē chalasah rōi .2.
Without the Naam, they shall depart weeping. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨ ਟੂਟਸਿ ਪਟਲ ॥
bin har nām n tūtas patal .
Without the Lord's Name, the screen is not torn away.
ਸੋਧੇ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਗਲ ॥
sōdhē sāsatr simrit sagal .
I have studied all the Shaastras and Simritees.
ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਏ ॥
sō nām japai jis āp japāē .
He alone chants the Naam, whom the Lord Himself inspires to chant.
ਸਗਲ ਫਲਾ ਸੇ ਸੂਖਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥
sagal phalā sē sūkh samāē .3.
He obtains all fruits and rewards, and merges in peace. ||3||
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਆਪਿ ॥
rākhanahārē rākhah āp .
O Savior Lord, please save me!
ਸਗਲ ਸੁਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
sagal sukhā prabh tumarai hāth .
All peace and comforts are in Your Hand, God.
ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
jit lāvah tit lāgah suāmī .
Whatever you attach me to, to that I am attached, O my Lord and Master.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੨੪॥
nānak sāhib antarajāmī .4.13.24.
O Nanak, the Lord is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||13||24||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
rāmakalī mahalā 5 .
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
jō kish karai sōī sukh jānā .
Whatever He does makes me happy.
ਮਨੁ ਅਸਮਝੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ॥
man asamajh sādhasang patīānā .
The ignorant mind is encouraged, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਚੂਕਾ ਠਹਰਾਇਆ ॥
dōlan tē chūkā thaharāiā .
Now, it does not waver at all; it has become stable and steady.
ਸਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਲੇ ਸਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
sat māh lē sat samāiā .1.
Receiving Truth, it is merged in the True Lord. ||1||
ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
dūkh gaiā sabh rōg gaiā .
Pain is gone, and all illness is gone.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
prabh kī āgiā man mah mānī mahā purakh kā sang bhaiā .1. rahāu .
I have accepted the Will of God in my mind, associating with the Great Person, the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥
sagal pavitr sarab niramalā .
All is pure; all is immaculate.
ਜੋ ਵਰਤਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਭਲਾ ॥
jō varatāē sōī bhalā .
Whatever exists is good.
ਜਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
jah rākhai sōī mukat thān .
Wherever He keeps me, that is the place of liberation for me.
ਜੋ ਜਪਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
jō japāē sōī nām .2.
Whatever He makes me chant, is His Name. ||2||
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਹ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਧਰਹਿ ॥
athasath tīrath jah sādh pag dharah .
That is the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, where the Holy place their feet,
ਤਹ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੁ ਜਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰਹਿ ॥
tah baikunth jah nām ucharah .
and that is heaven, where the Naam is chanted.
ਸਰਬ ਅਨੰਦ ਜਬ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sarab anand jab darasan pāīai .
All bliss comes, when one obtains the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.
ਰਾਮ ਗੁਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
rām gunā nit nit har gāīai .3.
I sing continuously, continually, the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥
āpē ghat ghat rahiā biāp .
The Lord Himself is pervading in each and every heart.
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਗਟ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
daiāl purakh paragat paratāp .
The glory of the Merciful Lord is radiant and manifest.
ਕਪਟ ਖੁਲਾਨੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਨਾਠੇ ਦੂਰੇ ॥
kapat khulānē bhram nāthē dūrē .
The shutters are opened, and doubts have run away.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੨੫॥
nānak kau gur bhētē pūrē .4.14.25.
Nanak has met with the Perfect Guru. ||4||14||25||

ਕੋਟਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
kōt jāp tāp bisrām .
Millions of meditations and austerities rest in him,
ਰਿਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
ridh budh sidh sur giān .
along with wealth, wisdom, miraculous spiritual powers and angelic spiritual insight.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਭੋਗ ਰਸੈ ॥
anik rūp rang bhōg rasai .
He enjoys the various shows and forms, pleasures and delicacies;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥੧॥
guramukh nām nimakh ridai vasai .1.
the Naam, the Name of the Lord, dwells within the heart of the Gurmukh. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
har kē nām kī vadiāī .
Such is the glorious greatness of the Name of the Lord.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kīmat kahan n jāī .1. rahāu .
Its value cannot be described. ||1||Pause||
ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਧੀਰਜ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
sūrabīr dhīraj mat pūrā .
He alone is brave, patient and perfectly wise;
