ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਈਆ ॥
sēj ēk ēkō prabh thākur mahal n pāvai manamukh bharamaīā .
There is one bed for the soul-bride, and the same bed for God, her Lord and Master. The self-willed manmukh does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; she wanders around, in limbo.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਢੀਲ ਨ ਪਈਆ ॥੫॥
gur gur karat saran jē āvai prabh āi milai khin dhīl n paīā .5.
Uttering, "Guru, Guru", she seeks His Sanctuary; so God comes to meet her, without a moment's delay. ||5||
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆਚਾਰ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਪਟ ਲੋਭਈਆ ॥
kar kar kiriāchār vadhāē man pākhand karam kapat lōbhaīā .
One may perform many rituals, but the mind is filled with hypocrisy, evil deeds and greed.
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੇਟਾ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਈਆ ॥੬॥
bēsuā kai ghar bētā janamiā pitā tāh kiā nām sadaīā .6.
When a son is born in the house of a prostitute, who can tell the name of his father? ||6||
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਮਈਆ ॥
pūrab janam bhagat kar āē gur har har har har bhagat jamaīā .
Because of devotional worship in my past incarnations, I have been born into this life. The Guru has inspired me to worship the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਈਆ ॥੭॥
bhagat bhagat karatē har pāiā jā har har har har nām samaīā .7.
Worshipping, worshipping Him with devotion, I found the Lord, and then I merged into the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||7||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਆਣਿ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਪੀਸਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਲਈਆ ॥
prabh ān ān mahindī pīsāī āpē ghōl ghōl ang laīā .
God Himself came and ground the henna leaves into powder, and applied it to my body.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਢਿ ਲਈਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥
jin kau thākur kirapā dhārī bāh pakar nānak kadh laīā .8.6.2.1.6.9.
Our Lord and Master showers His Mercy upon us, and grasps hold of our arms; O Nanak, He lifts us up and saves us. ||8||6||9||2||1||6||9||

ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥
upamā jāt n kahī mērē prabh kī upamā jāt n kahī .
I cannot express the Praises of my God; I cannot express His Praises.
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taj ān saran gahī .1. rahāu .
I have abandoned all others, seeking His Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
prabh charan kamal apār .
God's Lotus Feet are Infinite.
ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
hau jāu sad balihār .
I am forever a sacrifice to Them.
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
man prīt lāgī tāh .
My mind is in love with Them.
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
taj ān katah n jāh .1.
If I were to abandon Them, there is nowhere else I could go. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਨ ॥
har nām rasanā kahan .
I chant the Lord's Name with my tongue.
ਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਕਲਮਲ ਦਹਨ ॥
mal pāp kalamal dahan .
The filth of my sins and evil mistakes is burnt off.
ਚੜਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ॥
char nāv sant udhār .
Climbing aboard the Boat of the Saints, I am emancipated.
ਭੈ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
bhai tarē sāgar pār .2.
I have been carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਮਨਿ ਡੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
man dōr prēm parīt .
My mind is tied to the Lord with the string of love and devotion.
ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
ih sant niramal rīt .
This is the Immaculate Way of the Saints.
ਤਜਿ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
taj gaē pāp bikār .
They forsake sin and corruption.
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
har milē prabh nirankār .3.
They meet the Formless Lord God. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
prabh pēkhīai bisamād .
Gazing upon God, I am wonderstruck.
ਚਖਿ ਅਨਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਦ ॥
chakh anad pūran sād .
I taste the Perfect Flavor of Bliss.
ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਇਤ ਊਤ ॥
nah dōlīai it ūt .
I do not waver or wander here or there.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤ ॥੪॥
prabh basē har har chīt .4.
The Lord God, Har, Har, dwells within my consciousness. ||4||
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਨਿਤ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
tinh nāh narak nivās . nit simar prabh gunatās .
Those who constantly remember God, the treasure of virtue, will never go to hell.
ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਨੈਨ ॥ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੈਨ ॥੫॥
tē jam n pēkhah nain . sun mōhē anahat bain .5.
Those who listen, fascinated, to the Unstruck Sound-Current of the Word, will never have to see the Messenger of Death with their eyes. ||5||
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
har saran sūr gupāl .
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Heroic Lord of the World.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਗਤ ਵਸਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
prabh bhagat vas daiāl .
The Merciful Lord God is under the power of His devotees.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਗਮ ਲਹਹਿ ਨ ਭੇਵ ॥
har nigam lahah n bhēv .
The Vedas do not know the Mystery of the Lord.
ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥੬॥
nit karah mun jan sēv .6.
The silent sages constantly serve Him. ||6||
ਦੁਖ ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰ ॥
dukh dīn darad nivār .
He is the Destroyer of the pains and sorrows of the poor.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੜੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
jā kī mahā bikharī kār .
It is so very difficult to serve Him.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
tā kī mit n jānai kōi .
No one knows His limits.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥
jal thal mahīal sōi .7.
He is pervading the water, the land and the sky. ||7||
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥
kar bandanā lakh bār .
Hundreds of thousands of times, I humbly bow to Him.
ਥਕਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥
thak pariō prabh darabār .
I have grown weary, and I have collapsed at God's Door.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
prabh karah sādhū dhūr .
O God, make me the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੮॥੧॥
nānak manasā pūr .8.1.
Please fulfill this, Nanak's wish. ||8||1||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥
prabh janam maran nivār .
God, please release me from birth and death.
ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
hār pariō duār .
I have grown weary, and collapsed at Your door.
ਗਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
gah charan sādhū sang .
I grasp Your Feet, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਮਨ ਮਿਸਟ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ॥
man misat har har rang .
The Love of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet to my mind.
