ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
āvan jānā rah gaē man vuthā nirankār jīu .
My comings and goings have ended; the Formless Lord now dwells within my mind.
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
tā kā ant n pāīai ūchā agam apār jīu .
His limits cannot be found; He is lofty and exalted, inaccessible and infinite.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥
jis prabh apanā visarai sō mar janmai lakh vār jīu .6.
One who forgets His God, shall die and be reincarnated, hundreds of thousands of times. ||6||
ਸਾਚੁ ਨੇਹੁ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
sāch nēh tin prītamā jin man vuthā āp jīu .
They alone bear true love for their God, within whose minds He Himself dwells.
ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝੀ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੇ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਪਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
gun sājhī tin sang basē āth pahar prabh jāp jīu .
So dwell only with those who share their virtues; chant and meditate on God, twenty-four hours a day.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥
rang ratē paramēsarai binasē sagal santāp jīu .7.
They are attuned to the Love of the Transcendent Lord; all their sorrows and afflictions are dispelled. ||7||
ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਏਕੁ ਅਨੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥
tūn karatā tūn karanahār tūhai ēk anēk jīu .
You are the Creator, You are the Cause of causes; You are the One and the many.
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਤੂਹੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥
tū samarath tū sarab mai tūhai budh bibēk jīu .
You are All-powerful, You are present everywhere; You are the subtle intellect, the clear wisdom.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥੧॥੩॥
nānak nām sadā japī bhagat janā kī tēk jīu .8.1.3.
Nanak chants and meditates forever on the Naam, the Support of the humble devotees. ||8||1||3||

ਜੇ ਭੁਲੀ ਜੇ ਚੁਕੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਭੀ ਤਹਿੰਜੀ ਕਾਢੀਆ ॥
jē bhulī jē chukī sāīnh bhī tahinjī kādhīā .
Even though I have made mistakes, and even though I have been wrong, I am still called Yours, O my Lord and Master.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਦੂਜਾਣੇ ਲਗਾ ਝੂਰਿ ਮਰਹੁ ਸੇ ਵਾਢੀਆ ॥੧॥
jinhā nēh dūjānē lagā jhūr marah sē vādhīā .1.
Those who enshrine love for another, die regretting and repenting. ||1||
ਹਉ ਨਾ ਛੋਡਉ ਕੰਤ ਪਾਸਰਾ ॥
hau nā shōdau kant pāsarā .
I shall never leave my Husband Lord's side.
ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੀਲਾ ਲਾਲੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਹਿੰਜਾ ਆਸਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadā rangīlā lāl piārā ēh mahinjā āsarā .1. rahāu .
My Beloved Lover is always and forever beautiful. He is my hope and inspiration. ||1||Pause||
ਸਜਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਸੈਣੁ ਤੂ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਉਪਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਣੀਆ ॥
sajan tūhai sain tū mai tujh upar bah mānīā .
You are my Best Friend; You are my relative. I am so proud of You.
ਜਾ ਤੂ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੇ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਮਾਣੀਆ ॥੨॥
jā tū andar tā sukhē tūn nimānī mānīā .2.
And when You dwell within me, I am at peace. I am without honor - You are my honor. ||2||
ਜੇ ਤੂ ਤੁਠਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਵੇਖਾਲਿ ॥
jē tū tuthā kripā nidhān nā dūjā vēkhāl .
And when You are pleased with me, O treasure of mercy, then I do not see any other.
ਏਹਾ ਪਾਈ ਮੂ ਦਾਤੜੀ ਨਿਤ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੩॥
ēhā pāī mū dātarī nit hiradai rakhā samāl .3.
Please grant me this blessing, that that I may forever dwell upon You and cherish You within my heart. ||3||
ਪਾਵ ਜੁਲਾਈ ਪੰਧ ਤਉ ਨੈਣੀ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਲਿ ॥
pāv julāī pandh tau nainī daras dikhāl .
Let my feet walk on Your Path, and let my eyes behold the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਿ ॥੪॥
sravanī sunī kahānīā jē gur thīvai kirapāl .4.
With my ears, I will listen to Your Sermon, if the Guru becomes merciful to me. ||4||
ਕਿਤੀ ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜਿ ਪਿਰੀਏ ਰੋਮ ਨ ਪੁਜਨਿ ਤੇਰਿਆ ॥
kitī lakh karōr pirīē rōm n pujan tēriā .
Hundreds of thousands and millions do not equal even one hair of Yours, O my Beloved.
ਤੂ ਸਾਹੀ ਹੂ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਉ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰਿਆ ॥੫॥
tū sāhī hū sāh hau kah n sakā gun tēriā .5.
You are the King of kings; I cannot even describe Your Glorious Praises. ||5||
ਸਹੀਆ ਤਊ ਅਸੰਖ ਮੰਞਹੁ ਹਭਿ ਵਧਾਣੀਆ ॥
sahīā taū asankh manñah habh vadhānīā .
Your brides are countless; they are all greater than I am.
ਹਿਕ ਭੋਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਆ ॥੬॥
hik bhōrī nadar nihāl dēh daras rang mānīā .6.
Please bless me with Your Glance of Grace, even for an instant; please bless me with Your Darshan, that I may revel in Your Love. ||6||
ਜੈ ਡਿਠੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੀਐ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਵੰਞਨ੍ਹਿ ਦੂਰੇ ॥
jai dithē man dhīrīai kilavikh vanñanh dūrē .
Seeing Him, my mind is comforted and consoled, and my sins and mistakes are far removed.
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮਾਉ ਮੈ ਜੋ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
sō kiu visarai māu mai jō rahiā bharapūrē .7.
How could I ever forget Him, O my mother? He is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||7||
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਢਹਿ ਪਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
hōi nimānī dhah paī miliā sahaj subhāi .
In humility, I bowed down in surrender to Him, and He naturally met me.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥
pūrab likhiā pāiā nānak sant sahāi .8.1.4.
I have received what was pre-ordained for me, O Nanak, with the help and assistance of the Saints. ||8||1||4||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਪੁਕਾਰਨਿ ਪੋਥੀਆ ॥
simrit bēd purān pukāran pōthīā .
The Simritees, the Vedas, the Puraanas and the other holy scriptures proclaim
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਗਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਛੀਆ ॥੧॥
nām binā sabh kūr gālhī hōshīā .1.
that without the Naam, everything is false and worthless. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
nām nidhān apār bhagatā man vasai .
The infinite treasure of the Naam abides within the minds of the devotees.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਮੋਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran mōh dukh sādhū sang nasai .1. rahāu .
Birth and death, attachment and suffering, are erased in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਮੋਹਿ ਬਾਦਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਰੁੰਨਿਆ ॥
mōh bād ahankār sarapar runniā .
Those who indulge in attachment, conflict and egotism shall surely weep and cry.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨ੍ਹਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
sukh n pāinh mūl nām vishunniā .2.
Those who are separated from the Naam shall never find any peace. ||2||
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਧਾਰਿ ਬੰਧਨਿ ਬੰਧਿਆ ॥
mērī mērī dhār bandhan bandhiā .
Crying out, "Mine! Mine!", he is bound in bondage.
ਨਰਕਿ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੰਧਿਆ ॥੩॥
narak surag avatār māiā dhandhiā .3.
Entangled in Maya, he is reincarnated in heaven and hell. ||3||
ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
sōdhat sōdhat sōdh tat bīchāriā .
Searching, searching, searching, I have come to understand the essence of reality.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥
nām binā sukh nāh sarapar hāriā .4.
Without the Naam, there is no peace at all, and the mortal will surely fail. ||4||
