ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gur parasādī kō viralā shūtai tis jan kau hau balihārī .3.
By Guru's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin sisat sājī sōī har jānai tā kā rūp apārō .
The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
nānak āpē vēkh har bigasai guramukh braham bīchārō .4.3.14.
O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Soohee, Fourth Mehl:
ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥
kītā karanā sarab rajāī kish kīchai jē kar sakīai .
All that happens, and all that will happen, is by His Will. If we could do something by ourselves, we would.
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥
āpanā kītā kishū n hōvai jiu har bhāvai tiu rakhīai .1.
By ourselves, we cannot do anything at all. As it pleases the Lord, He preserves us. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ॥
mērē har jīu sabh kō tērai vas .
O my Dear Lord, everything is in Your power.
ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
asā jōr nāhī jē kish kar ham sākah jiu bhāvai tivai bakhas .1. rahāu .
I have no power to do anything at all. As it pleases You, You forgive us. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sabh jīu pind dīā tudh āpē tudh āpē kārai lāiā .
You Yourself bless us with soul, body and everything. You Yourself cause us to act.
ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
jēhā tūn hukam karah tēhē kō karam kamāvai jēhā tudh dhur likh pāiā .2.
As You issue Your Commands, so do we act, according to our pre-ordained destiny. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
panch tat kar tudh srisat sabh sājī kōī shēvā kariu jē kish kītā hōvai .
You created the entire Universe out of the five elements; if anyone can create a sixth, let him.
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥
ikanā satigur mēl tūn bujhāvah ik manamukh karah s rōvai .3.
You unite some with the True Guru, and cause them to understand, while others, the self-willed manmukhs, do their deeds and cry out in pain. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥
har kī vadiāī hau ākh n sākā hau mūrakh mugadh nīchān .
I cannot describe the glorious greatness of the Lord; I am foolish, thoughtless, idiotic and lowly.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪਇਆ ਅਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥
jan nānak kau har bakhas lai mērē suāmī saranāgat paiā ajān .4.4.15.24.
Please, forgive servant Nanak, O my Lord and Master; I am ignorant, but I have entered Your Sanctuary. ||4||4||15||24||

Raag Soohee, Fifth Mehl, First House:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
bājīgar jaisē bājī pāī .
The actor stages the play,
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
nānā rūp bhēkh dikhalāī .
playing the many characters in different costumes;
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮ੍ਹਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
sānhg utār thanmhiō pāsārā .
but when the play ends, he takes off the costumes,
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tab ēkō ēkankārā .1.
and then he is one, and only one. ||1||
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥
kavan rūp drisatiō binasāiō .
How many forms and images appeared and disappeared?
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
katah gaiō uh kat tē āiō .1. rahāu .
Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
jal tē ūthah anik tarangā .
Countless waves rise up from the water.
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
kanik bhūkhan kīnē bah rangā .
Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold.
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
bīj bīj dēkhiō bah parakārā .
I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
phal pākē tē ēkankārā .2.
- when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2||
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
sahas ghatā mah ēk ākās .
The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs,
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ghat phūtē tē ōhī pragās .
but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains.
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
bharam lōbh mōh māiā vikār .
Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
bhram shūtē tē ēkankār .3.
Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3||
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ōh abināsī binasat nāhī .
He is imperishable; He will never pass away.
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
nā kō āvai nā kō jāhī .
He does not come, and He does not go.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥
gur pūrai haumai mal dhōī .
The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
kah nānak mērī param gat hōī .4.1.
Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
sūhī mahalā 5 .
Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
kītā lōrah sō prabh hōi .
Whatever God wills, that alone happens.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin dūjā nāhī kōi .
Without You, there is no other at all.
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
jō jan sēvē tis pūran kāj .
The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful.
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥
dās apunē kī rākhah lāj .1.
O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
tērī saran pūran daiālā .
I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect, Merciful Lord.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin kavan karē pratipālā .1. rahāu .
Without You, who would cherish and love me? ||1||Pause||
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
jal thal mahīal rahiā bharapūr .
He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
nikat vasai nāhī prabh dūr .
God dwells near at hand; He is not far away.
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
lōk patīārai kashū n pāīai .
By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished.
ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
sāch lagai tā haumai jāīai .2.
When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2||
