ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār sat nām karatā purakh nirabhau niravair akāl mūrat ajūnī saibhan gur prasād .

ਜੀਉ ਡਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਉ ਕਰੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
jīu darat hai āpanā kai siu karī pukār .
My soul is afraid; to whom should I complain?
ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
dūkh visāran sēviā sadā sadā dātār .1.
I serve Him, who makes me forget my pains; He is the Giver, forever and ever. ||1||
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਨੀਤ ਨਵਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sāhib mērā nīt navā sadā sadā dātār .1. rahāu .
My Lord and Master is forever new; He is the Giver, forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥
anadin sāhib sēvīai ant shadāē sōi .
Night and day, I serve my Lord and Master; He shall save me in the end.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
sun sun mērī kāmanī pār utārā hōi .2.
Hearing and listening, O my dear sister, I have crossed over. ||2||
ਦਇਆਲ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾ ॥
daiāl tērai nām tarā .
O Merciful Lord, Your Name carries me across.
ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sad kurabānai jāu .1. rahāu .
I am forever a sacrifice to You. ||1||Pause||
ਸਰਬੰ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
saraban sāchā ēk hai dūjā nāhī kōi .
In all the world, there is only the One True Lord; there is no other at all.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥
tā kī sēvā sō karē jā kau nadar karē .3.
He alone serves the Lord, upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace. ||3||
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੇਵ ਰਹਾ ॥
tudh bājh piārē kēv rahā .
Without You, O Beloved, how could I even live?
ਸਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾਂ ॥
sā vadiāī dēh jit nām tērē lāg rahānh .
Bless me with such greatness, that I may remain attached to Your Name.
ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਾਇ ਕਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dūjā nāhī kōi jis āgai piārē jāi kahā .1. rahāu .
There is no other, O Beloved, to whom I can go and speak. ||1||Pause||
ਸੇਵੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਚੰਉ ਕੋਇ ॥
sēvī sāhib āpanā avar n jāchanu kōi .
I serve my Lord and Master; I ask for no other.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਬਿੰਦ ਬਿੰਦ ਚੁਖ ਚੁਖ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥
nānak tā kā dās hai bind bind chukh chukh hōi .4.
Nanak is His slave; moment by moment, bit by bit, he is a sacrifice to Him. ||4||
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਿੰਦ ਬਿੰਦ ਚੁਖ ਚੁਖ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੪॥੧॥
sāhib tērē nām vitah bind bind chukh chukh hōi .1. rahāu .4.1.
O Lord Master, I am a sacrifice to Your Name, moment by moment, bit by bit. ||1||Pause||4||1||

Dhanaasaree, First Mehl:
ਹਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਦਮੀ ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
ham ādamī hānh ik damī muhalat muhat n jānā .
We are human beings of the briefest moment; we do not know the appointed time of our departure.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
nānak binavai tisai sarēvah jā kē jī parānā .1.
Prays Nanak, serve the One, to whom our soul and breath of life belong. ||1||
ਅੰਧੇ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਕੇ ਦਿਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
andhē jīvanā vīchār dēkh kētē kē dinā .1. rahāu .
You are blind - see and consider, how many days your life shall last. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਸੁ ਮਾਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਤੂ ਮੈ ਖਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
sās mās sabh jīu tumārā tū mai kharā piārā .
My breath, my flesh and my soul are all Yours, Lord; You are so very dear to me.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਇਰੁ ਏਵ ਕਹਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
nānak sāir ēv kahat hai sachē paravadagārā .2.
Nanak, the poet, says this, O True Lord Cherisher. ||2||
ਜੇ ਤੂ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਦੇਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਢੈ ਗਹਣਾ ॥
jē tū kisai n dēhī mērē sāhibā kiā kō kadhai gahanā .
If you gave nothing, O my Lord and Master, what could anyone pledge to You?
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ॥੩॥
nānak binavai sō kish pāīai purab likhē kā lahanā .3.
Nanak prays, we receive that which we are pre-destined to receive. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਕੀਆ ਕਪਟੀ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਣਾ ॥
nām khasam kā chit n kīā kapatī kapat kamānā .
The deceitful person does not remember the Lord's Name; he practices only deceit.
ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਜਾ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਚਲਦਾ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ॥੪॥
jam duār jā pakar chalāiā tā chaladā pashutānā .4.
When he is marched in chains to Death's door, then, he regrets his actions. ||4||
