ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak j guramukh karah sō paravān hai jō nām rahē liv lāi .2.
O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੰਉ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖਾ ॥
hau balihārī tinn kanu jō guramukh sikhā .
I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖਾ ॥
jō har nām dhiāidē tin darasan pikhā .
I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥
sun kīratan har gun ravā har jas man likhā .
Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਾ ॥
har nām salāhī rang siu sabh kilavikh krikhā .
I praise the Lord's Name with love, and eradicate all my sins.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਸੋ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੇ ਵਿਖਾ ॥੧੯॥
dhan dhann suhāvā sō sarīr thān hai jithai mērā gur dharē vikhā .19.
Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. ||19||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
gur bin giān n hōvaī nā sukh vasai man āi .
Without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained, and peace does not come to abide in the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥
nānak nām vihūnē manamukhī jāsan janam gavāi .1.
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the self-willed manmukhs depart, after having wasted their lives. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਸਭਿ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
sidh sādhik nāvai nō sabh khōjadē thak rahē liv lāi .
All the Siddhas, spiritual masters and seekers search for the Name; they have grown weary of concentrating and focusing their attention.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
bin satigur kinai n pāiō guramukh milai milāi .
Without the True Guru, no one finds the Name; the Gurmukhs unite in Union with the Lord.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਹੈ ਧਿਗੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਧਿਗੁ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥
bin nāvai painan khān sabh bād hai dhig sidhī dhig karamāt .
Without the Name, all food and clothes are worthless; cursed is such spirituality, and cursed are such miraculous powers.
ਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
sā sidh sā karamāt hai achint karē jis dāt .
That alone is spirituality, and that alone is miraculous power, which the Carefree Lord spontaneously bestows.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਹਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
nānak guramukh har nām man vasai ēhā sidh ēhā karamāt .2.
O Nanak, the Lord's Name abides in the mind of the Gurmukh; this is spirituality, and this is miraculous power. ||2||

ਹਮ ਢਾਢੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖਸਮ ਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਛੰਤਾ ॥
ham dhādhī har prabh khasam kē nit gāvah har gun shantā .
I am a minstrel of God, my Lord and Master; every day, I sing the songs of the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਹ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਹ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਵਲਾ ਕੰਤਾ ॥
har kīratan karah har jas sunah tis kavalā kantā .
I sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and I listen to the Praises of the Lord, the Master of wealth and Maya.
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਭਿਖਾਰੀਆ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਜੰਤਾ ॥
har dātā sabh jagat bhikhārīā mangat jan jantā .
The Lord is the Great Giver; all the world is begging; all beings and creatures are beggars.
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਜੰਤਾ ॥
har dēvah dān daiāl hōi vich pāthar krim jantā .
O Lord, You are kind and compassionate; You give Your gifts to even worms and insects among the rocks.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ॥੨੦॥
jan nānak nām dhiāiā guramukh dhanavantā .20.
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, he has become truly wealthy. ||20||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਪੜਣਾ ਗੁੜਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
paranā guranā sansār kī kār hai andar trisanā vikār .
Reading and studying are just worldly pursuits, if there is thirst and corruption within.
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
haumai vich sabh par thakē dūjai bhāi khuār .
Reading in egotism, all have grown weary; through the love of duality, they are ruined.
ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
sō pariā sō pandit bīnā gur sabad karē vīchār .
He alone is educated, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਜੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
andar khōjai tat lahai pāē mōkh duār .
He searches within himself, and finds the true essence; he finds the Door of Salvation.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
gun nidhān har pāiā sahaj karē vīchār .
He finds the Lord, the treasure of excellence, and peacefully contemplates Him.
ਧੰਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
dhann vāpārī nānakā jis guramukh nām adhār .1.
Blessed is the trader, O Nanak, who, as Gurmukh, takes the Name as his only Support. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
vin man mārē kōi n sijhaī vēkhah kō liv lāi .
Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. See this, and concentrate on it.
ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਤੀਰਥੀ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
bhēkhadhārī tīrathī bhav thakē nā ēh man māriā jāi .
The wandering holy men are tired of of making pilgrimages to sacred shrines; they have not been able to conquer their minds.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
guramukh ēh man jīvat marai sach rahai liv lāi .
The Gurmukh has conquered his mind, and he remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਇਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
nānak is man kī mal iu utarai haumai sabad jalāi .2.
O Nanak, this is how the filth of the mind is removed; the Word of the Shabad burns away the ego. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹੁ ਇਕ ਕਿਨਕਾ ॥
har har sant milah mērē bhāī har nām drirāvah ik kinakā .
O Saints of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny, please meet with me, and implant the Name of the One Lord within me.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਹੁ ਖਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
har har sīgār banāvah har jan har kāpar pahirah khim kā .
O humble servants of the Lord, adorn me with the decorations of the Lord, Har, Har; let me wear the robes of the Lord's forgiveness.
ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਮ ਕਾ ॥
aisā sīgār mērē prabh bhāvai har lāgai piārā prim kā .
Such decorations are pleasing to my God; such love is dear to the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਇਕ ਪਲਕਾ ॥
har har nām bōlah din rātī sabh kilabikh kātai ik palakā .
I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night; in an instant, all sins are eradicated.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥
har har daiāl hōvai jis upar sō guramukh har jap jinakā .21.
That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord's Name, and wins the game of life. ||21||
