ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪਰਭਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
tujh hī man rātē ahinis parabhātē har rasanā jap man rē .2.
My mind is imbued with You, day and night and morning, O Lord; my tongue chants Your Name, and my mind meditates on You. ||2||
ਤੁਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਰਾਚੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਸਾਚੇ ॥
tum sāchē ham tum hī rāchē sabad bhēd phun sāchē .
You are True, and I am absorbed into You; through the mystery of the Shabad, I shall ultimately become True as well.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਸੂਚੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਸੇ ਕਾਚੇ ॥੩॥
ahinis nām ratē sē sūchē mar janamē sē kāchē .3.
Those who are imbued with the Naam day and night are pure, while those who die to be reborn are impure. ||3||
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
avar n dīsai kis sālāhī tisah sarīk n kōī .
I do not see any other like the Lord; who else should I praise? No one is equal to Him.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੫॥
pranavat nānak dāsan dāsā guramat jāniā sōī .4.5.
Prays Nanak, I am the slave of His slaves; by Guru's Instruction, I know Him. ||4||5||

Sorat'h, First Mehl:
ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
alakh apār aganm agōchar nā tis kāl n karamā .
He is unknowable, infinite, unapproachable and imperceptible. He is not subject to death or karma.
ਜਾਤਿ ਅਜਾਤਿ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਭਉ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਭਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
jāt ajāt ajōnī sanbhau nā tis bhāu n bharamā .1.
His caste is casteless; He is unborn, self-illumined, and free of doubt and desire. ||1||
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
sāchē sachiār vitah kurabān .
I am a sacrifice to the Truest of the True.
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪ ਵਰਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nā tis rūp varan nahī rēkhiā sāchai sabad nīsān . rahāu .
He has no form, no color and no features; through the True Word of the Shabad, He reveals Himself. ||Pause||
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
nā tis māt pitā sut bandhap nā tis kām n nārī .
He has no mother, father, sons or relatives; He is free of sexual desire; He has no wife.
ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਪਰ ਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
akul niranjan apar paranpar sagalī jōt tumārī .2.
He has no ancestry; He is immaculate. He is infinite and endless; O Lord, Your Light is pervading all. ||2||
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
ghat ghat antar braham lukāiā ghat ghat jōt sabāī .
Deep within each and every heart, God is hidden; His Light is in each and every heart.
ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
bajar kapāt mukatē guramatī nirabhai tārī lāī .3.
The heavy doors are opened by Guru's Instructions; one becomes fearless, in the trance of deep meditation. ||3||
ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਜੰਤਾ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
jant upāi kāl sir jantā vasagat jugat sabāī .
The Lord created all beings, and placed death over the heads of all; all the world is under His Power.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈ ॥੪॥
satigur sēv padārath pāvah shūtah sabad kamāī .4.
Serving the True Guru, the treasure is obtained; living the Word of the Shabad, one is emancipated. ||4||
ਸੂਚੈ ਭਾਡੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੂਚਾਚਾਰੀ ॥
sūchai bhādai sāch samāvai viralē sūchāchārī .
In the pure vessel, the True Name is contained; how few are those who practice true conduct.
ਤੰਤੈ ਕਉ ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੬॥
tantai kau param tant milāiā nānak saran tumārī .5.6.
The individual soul is united with the Supreme Soul; Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||5||6||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Sorat'h, First Mehl:
ਜਿਉ ਮੀਨਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਤਿਉ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
jiu mīnā bin pānīai tiu sākat marai piās .
Like a fish without water is the faithless cynic, who dies of thirst.
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰੀਐ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਜੋ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਵੈ ਸਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
tiu har bin marīai rē manā jō birathā jāvai sās .1.
So shall you die, O mind, without the Lord, as your breath goes in vain. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
man rē rām nām jas lēi .
O mind, chant the Lord's Name, and praise Him.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਇਹੁ ਰਸੁ ਕਿਉ ਲਹਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin gur ih ras kiu lahau gur mēlai har dēi . rahāu .
Without the Guru, how will you obtain this juice? The Guru shall unite you with the Lord. ||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲੁ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
sant janā mil sangatī guramukh tīrath hōi .
For the Gurmukh, meeting with the Society of the Saints is like making a pilgrimage to a sacred shrine.
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
athasath tīrath majanā gur daras parāpat hōi .2.
The benefit of bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage is obtained by the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. ||2||
ਜਿਉ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਤਪੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ॥
jiu jōgī jat bāharā tap nāhī sat santōkh .
Like the Yogi without abstinence, and like penance without truth and contentment,
ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਹੁਰੀ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੋਖੁ ॥੩॥
tiu nāmai bin dēhurī jam mārai antar dōkh .3.
so is the body without the Lord's Name; death will slay it, because of the sin within. ||3||
ਸਾਕਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
sākat prēm n pāīai har pāīai satigur bhāi .
The faithless cynic does not obtain the Lord's Love; the Lord's Love is obtained only through the True Guru.
ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੭॥
sukh dukh dātā gur milai kah nānak siphat samāi .4.7.
One who meets with the Guru, the Giver of pleasure and pain, says Nanak, is absorbed in the Lord's Praise. ||4||7||

ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਥਾਰੇ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
tū prabh dātā dān mat pūrā ham thārē bhēkhārī jīu .
You, God, are the Giver of gifts, the Lord of perfect understanding; I am a mere beggar at Your Door.
ਮੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
mai kiā māgau kish thir n rahāī har dījai nām piārī jīu .1.
What should I beg for? Nothing remains permanent; O Lord, please, bless me with Your Beloved Name. ||1||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
ghat ghat rav rahiā banavārī .
In each and every heart, the Lord, the Lord of the forest, is permeating and pervading.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਗੁਪਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jal thal mahīal gupatō varatai gur sabadī dēkh nihārī jīu . rahāu .
In the water, on the land, and in the sky, He is pervading but hidden; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is revealed. ||Pause||
ਮਰਤ ਪਇਆਲ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
marat paiāl akās dikhāiō gur satigur kirapā dhārī jīu .
In this world, in the nether regions of the underworld, and in the Akaashic Ethers, the Guru, the True Guru, has shown me the Lord; He has showered me with His Mercy.
ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਨੀ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sō braham ajōnī hai bhī hōnī ghat bhītar dēkh murārī jīu .2.
He is the unborn Lord God; He is, and shall ever be. Deep within your heart, behold Him, the Destroyer of ego. ||2||
