ਗਿਆਨ ਮੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਣੀਆ ॥
giān mangī har kathā changī har nām gat mit jānīā .
I ask for the Lord's spiritual wisdom, and the Lord's sublime sermon; through the Name of the Lord, I have come to know His value and His state.
ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲਿਉ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਖਾਣੀਆ ॥
sabh janam saphaliu kīā karatai har rām nām vakhānīā .
The Creator has made my life totally fruitful; I chant the Name of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੰਗੀਆ ॥
har rām nām salāh har prabh har bhagat har jan mangīā .
The Lord's humble servant begs for the Lord's Name, for the Lord's Praises, and for devotional worship of the Lord God.
ਜਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਚੰਗੀਆ ॥੧॥
jan kahai nānak sunah santah har bhagat gōvind changīā .1.
Says servant Nanak, listen, O Saints: devotional worship of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe, is sublime and good. ||1||
ਦੇਹ ਕੰਚਨ ਜੀਨੁ ਸੁਵਿਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
dēh kanchan jīn suvinā rām .
The golden body is saddled with the saddle of gold.
ਜੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
jar har har nām ratannā rām .
It is adorned with the jewel of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜੜਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਖ ਘਣੇ ॥
jar nām ratan gōvind pāiā har milē har gun sukh ghanē .
Adorned with the jewel of the Naam, one obtains the Lord of the Universe; he meets the Lord, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and obtains all sorts of comforts.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਹਰਿ ਬਣੇ ॥
gur sabad pāiā har nām dhiāiā vadabhāgī har rang har banē .
He obtains the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and he meditates on the Name of the Lord; by great good fortune, he assumes the color of the Lord's Love.
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਵਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਵ ਰੰਗੀਆ ॥
har milē suāmī antarajāmī har navatan har nav rangīā .
He meets his Lord and Master, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; His body is ever-new, and His color is ever-fresh.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੰਗੀਆ ॥੨॥
nānak vakhānai nām jānai har nām har prabh mangīā .2.
Nanak chants and realizes the Naam; he begs for the Name of the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||
ਕੜੀਆਲੁ ਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
karīāl mukhē gur ankas pāiā rām .
The Guru has placed the reins in the mouth of the body-horse.
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
man maigal gur sabad vas āiā rām .
The mind-elephant is overpowered by the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮਨੁ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
man vasagat āiā param pad pāiā sā dhan kant piārī .
The bride obtains the supreme status, as her mind is brought under control; she is the beloved of her Husband Lord.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
antar prēm lagā har sētī ghar sōhai har prabh nārī .
Deep within her inner self, she is in love with her Lord; in His home, she is beautiful - she is the bride of her Lord God.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har rang rātī sahajē mātī har prabh har har pāiā .
Imbued with the Lord's Love, she is intuitively absorbed in bliss; she obtains the Lord God, Har, Har.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਹੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
nānak jan har dās kahat hai vadabhāgī har har dhiāiā .3.
Servant Nanak, the Lord's slave, says that only the very fortunate meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਦੇਹ ਘੋੜੀ ਜੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
dēh ghōrī jī jit har pāiā rām .
The body is the horse, upon which one rides to the Lord.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
mil satigur jī mangal gāiā rām .
Meeting with the True Guru, one sings the songs of joy.
ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਕੀ ॥
har gāi mangal rām nāmā har sēv sēvak sēvakī .
Sing the songs of joy to the Lord, serve the Name of the Lord, and become the servant of His servants.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਰੰਗ ਮਹਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੈ ਰੰਗ ਕੀ ॥
prabh jāi pāvai rang mahalī har rang mānai rang kī .
You shall go and enter the Mansion of the Beloved Lord's Presence, and lovingly enjoy His Love.
ਗੁਣ ਰਾਮ ਗਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
gun rām gāē man subhāē har guramatī man dhiāiā .
I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, so pleasing to my mind; following the Guru's Teachings, I meditate on the Lord within my mind.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਘੋੜੀ ਚੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੬॥
jan nānak har kirapā dhārī dēh ghōrī char har pāiā .4.2.6.
The Lord has showered His Mercy upon servant Nanak; mounting the body-horse, he has found the Lord. ||4||2||6||

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਧਾ ਜੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
gur mil ladhā jī rām piārā rām .
Meeting with the Guru, I have found my Beloved Lord God.
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਿਤੜਾ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ih tan man ditarā vārō vārā rām .
I have made this body and mind a sacrifice, a sacrificial offering to my Lord.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਂਣਿ ਜਮਾਣੀ ॥
tan man ditā bhavajal jitā chūkī kānhn jamānī .
Dedicating my body and mind, I have crossed over the terrifying world-ocean, and shaken off the fear of death.
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
asathir thīā anmrit pīā rahiā āvan jānī .
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, I have become immortal; my comings and goings have ceased.
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਲਧਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
sō ghar ladhā sahaj samadhā har kā nām adhārā .
I have found that home, of celestial Samaadhi; the Name of the Lord is my only Support.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਾਣੇ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
kah nānak sukh mānē ralīānh gur pūrē kanu namasakārā .1.
Says Nanak, I enjoy peace and pleasure; I bow in reverence to the Perfect Guru. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਜਣ ਜੀ ਮੈਡੜੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sun sajan jī maidarē mītā rām .
Listen, O my friend and companion
ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਦੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
gur mantr sabad sach dītā rām .
- the Guru has given the Mantra of the Shabad, the True Word of God.
ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਚੂਕੇ ਮਨਹੁ ਅਦੇਸਾ ॥
sach sabad dhiāiā mangal gāiā chūkē manah adēsā .
Meditating on this True Shabad, I sing the songs of joy, and my mind is rid of anxiety.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਾ ॥
sō prabh pāiā katah n jāiā sadā sadā sang baisā .
I have found God, who never leaves; forever and ever, He sits with me.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਭਾਣਾ ਸਚਾ ਮਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਦੀਤਾ ॥
prabh jī bhānā sachā mānā prabh har dhan sahajē dītā .
One who is pleasing to God receives true honor. The Lord God blesses him with wealth.
