ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
sītal har har nām simarat tapat jāi .3.
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is soothing and cool; remembering it in meditation, the inner fire is quenched. ||3||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਾ ॥
sūkh sahaj ānand ghanā nānak jan dhūrā .
Peace, poise, and immense bliss, O Nanak, are obtained, when one becomes the dust of the feet of the humble servants of the Lord.
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਭਏ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੧੨॥
kāraj sagalē sidh bhaē bhētiā gur pūrā .4.10.112.
All of one's affairs are perfectly resolved, meeting with the Perfect Guru. ||4||10||112||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
gōbind gunī nidhān guramukh jānīai .
The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence; He is known only to the Gurmukh.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧॥
hōi kripāl daiāl har rang mānīai .1.
When He shows His Mercy and Kindness, we revel in the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਹ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ॥
āvah sant milāh har kathā kahānīā .
Come, O Saints - let us join together and speak the Sermon of the Lord.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਲੋਕਾਣੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadin simarah nām taj lāj lōkānīā .1. rahāu .
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and ignore the criticism of others. ||1||Pause||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
jap jap jīvā nām hōvai anad ghanā .
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam, and so I obtain immense bliss.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ ॥੨॥
mithiā mōh sansār jhūthā vinasanā .2.
Attachment to the world is useless and vain; it is false, and perishes in the end. ||2||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
charan kamal sang nēh kinai viralai lāiā .
How rare are those who embrace love for the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
dhann suhāvā mukh jin har dhiāiā .3.
Blessed and beautiful is that mouth, which meditates on the Lord. ||3||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥
janam maran dukh kāl simarat mit jāvaī .
The pains of birth, death and reincarnation are erased by meditating on the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੧੩॥
nānak kai sukh sōi jō prabh bhāvaī .4.11.113.
That alone is Nanak's joy, which is pleasing to God. ||4||11||113||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਵਹੁ ਮੀਤ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਸਭਿ ਭੁੰਚਹ ॥
āvah mīt ikatr hōi ras kas sabh bhunchah .
Come, O friends: let us meet together and enjoy all the tastes and flavors.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੁੰਚਹ ॥੧॥
anmrit nām har har japah mil pāpā munchah .1.
Let us join together and chant the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and so wipe away our sins. ||1||
ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tat vīchārah sant janah tā tē bighan n lāgai .
Reflect upon the essence of reality, O Saintly beings, and no troubles shall afflict you.
ਖੀਨ ਭਏ ਸਭਿ ਤਸਕਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khīn bhaē sabh tasakarā guramukh jan jāgai .1. rahāu .
All of the thieves shall be destroyed, as the Gurmukhs remain wakeful. ||1||Pause||
ਬੁਧਿ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਰਹੁ ॥
budh garībī kharach laih haumai bikh jārah .
Take wisdom and humility as your supplies, and burn away the poison of pride.
ਸਾਚਾ ਹਟੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਵਖਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਹੁ ॥੨॥
sāchā hat pūrā saudā vakhar nām vāpārah .2.
True is that shop, and perfect the transaction; deal only in the merchandise of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ॥
jīu pind dhan arapiā sēī pativantē .
They alone are accepted and approved, who dedicate their souls, bodies and wealth.
ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਤੇ ॥੩॥
āpanarē prabh bhāniā nit kēl karantē .3.
Those who are pleasing to their God, celebrate in happiness. ||3||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਦੁ ਜੋ ਪੀਵਤੇ ਬਿਖਲੀ ਪਤਿ ਕਮਲੀ ॥
duramat mad jō pīvatē bikhalī pat kamalī .
Those fools, who drink in the wine of evil-mindedness, become the husbands of prostitutes.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਅਮਲੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੧੪॥
rām rasāin jō ratē nānak sach amalī .4.12.114.
But those who are imbued with the sublime essence of the Lord, O Nanak, are intoxicated with the Truth. ||4||12||114||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਉਦਮੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਆਰੰਭੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
udam kīā karāiā āranbh rachāiā .
I made the effort; I did it, and made a beginning.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
nām japē jap jīvanā gur mantr drirāiā .1.
I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam. The Guru has implanted this Mantra within me. ||1||
ਪਾਇ ਪਰਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਆ ॥
pāi parah satigurū kai jin bharam bidāriā .
I fall at the Feet of the True Guru, who has dispelled my doubts.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapā prabh āpanī sach sāj savāriā .1. rahāu .
Bestowing His Mercy, God has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
kar gah līnē āpanē sach hukam rajāī .
Taking me by the hand, He made me His own, through the True Order of His Command.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
jō prabh ditī dāt sā pūran vadiāī .2.
That gift which God gave to me, is perfect greatness. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
sadā sadā gun gāīah jap nām murārī .
Forever and ever, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and chant the Name of the Destroyer of ego.
ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਬਾਹਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
nēm nibāhiō satigurū prabh kirapā dhārī .3.
My vows have been honored, by the Grace of God and the True Guru, who has showered His Mercy. ||3||
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਲਾਭੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤਾ ॥
nām dhan gun gāu lābh pūrai gur ditā .
The Perfect Guru has given the wealth of the Naam, and the profit of singing the Lord's Glorious Praises.
ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਅਮਿਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੧੫॥
vanajārē sant nānakā prabh sāh amitā .4.13.115.
The Saints are the traders, O Nanak, and the Infinite Lord God is their Banker. ||4||13||115||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੁਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥
jā kā thākur tuhī prabh tā kē vadabhāgā .
One who has You as His Master, O God, is blessed with great destiny.
ਓਹੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਸਦ ਸੁਖੀ ਸਭੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
ōh suhēlā sad sukhī sabh bhram bhau bhāgā .1.
He is happy, and forever at peace; his doubts and fears are all dispelled. ||1||
ਹਮ ਚਾਕਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
ham chākar gōbind kē thākur mērā bhārā .
I am the slave of the Lord of the Universe; my Master is the greatest of all.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karāvan sagal bidh sō satigurū hamārā .1. rahāu .
He is the Creator, the Cause of causes; He is my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੋ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
dūjā nāhī aur kō tā kā bhau karīai .
There is no other whom I should fear.
