ਸੋਈ ਅਜਾਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਮੈ ਜਾਨਾ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਛਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥
sōī ajān kahai mai jānā jānanahār n shānā rē .
One who claims to know, is ignorant; he does not know the Knower of all.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਪੀਆਇਆ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਬਿਗਸਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੪॥
kah nānak gur amiu pīāiā rasak rasak bigasānā rē .4.5.44.
Says Nanak, the Guru has given me the Ambrosial Nectar to drink in; savoring it and relishing it, I blossom forth in bliss. ||4||5||44||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ਅਉਗਨ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
bandhan kāt bisārē augan apanā birad samhāriā .
He has cut away my bonds, and overlooked my shortcomings, and so He has confirmed His nature.
ਹੋਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤ ਨਿਆਈ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
hōē kripāl māt pit niāī bārik jiu pratipāriā .1.
Becoming merciful to me, like a mother or a father, he has come to cherish me as His own child. ||1||
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰਾਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਿ ॥
gurasikh rākhē gur gōpāl .
The GurSikhs are preserved by the Guru, by the Lord of the Universe.
ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਮਹਾ ਭਵਜਲ ਤੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kādh līē mahā bhavajal tē apanī nadar nihāl .1. rahāu .
He rescues them from the terrible world ocean, casting His Glance of Grace upon them. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
jā kai simaran jam tē shutīai halat palat sukh pāīai .
Meditating in remembrance on Him, we escape from the Messenger of Death; here and hereafter, we obtain peace.
ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
sās girās japah jap rasanā nīt nīt gun gāīai .2.
With every breath and morsel of food, meditate, and chant with your tongue, continually, each and every day; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ॥
bhagat prēm param pad pāiā sādhasang dukh nāthē .
Through loving devotional worship, the supreme status is obtained, and in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sorrows are dispelled.
ਛਿਜੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗਾਠੇ ॥੩॥
shijai n jāi kish bhau n biāpē har dhan niramal gāthē .3.
I am not worn down, I do not die, and nothing strikes fear in me, since I have the wealth of the Lord's Immaculate Name in my purse. ||3||
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
ant kāl prabh bhaē sahāī it ut rākhanahārē .
At the very last moment, God becomes the mortal's Help and Support; here and hereafter, He is the Savior Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮੀਤ ਹੀਤ ਧਨੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੫॥
prān mīt hīt dhan mērai nānak sad balihārē .4.6.45.
He is my breath of life, my friend, support and wealth; O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||6||45||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
āsā mahalā 5 .
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਤਾ ਭਉ ਕੇਹਾ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
jā tūn sāhib tā bhau kēhā hau tudh bin kis sālāhī .
Since You are my Lord and Master, what is there for me to fear? Other than You, who else should I praise?
ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਮੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
ēk tūn tā sabh kish hai mai tudh bin dūjā nāhī .1.
You are the One and only, and so do all things exist; without You, there is nothing at all for me. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
bābā bikh dēkhiā sansār .
O Father, I have seen that the world is poison.
ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rakhiā karah gusāī mērē mai nām tērā ādhār .1. rahāu .
Save me, O Lord of the Universe! Your Name is my only Support. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਣਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਭਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥
jānah birathā sabhā man kī hōr kis pah ākh sunāīai .
You know completely the condition of my mind; who else could I go to tell of it?
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
vin nāvai sabh jag baurāiā nām milai sukh pāīai .2.
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the whole world has gone crazy; obtaining the Naam, it finds peace. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ਜਿ ਕਹਣਾ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
kiā kahīai kis ākh sunāīai j kahanā s prabh jī pās .
What shall I say? Unto whom shall I speak? What I have to say, I say to God.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ॥੩॥
sabh kish kītā tērā varatai sadā sadā tērī ās .3.
Everything which exists was created by You. You are my hope, forever and ever. ||3||
ਜੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਉ ॥
jē dēh vadiāī tā tērī vadiāī it ut tujhah dhiāu .
If you bestow greatness, then it is Your greatness; here and hereafter, I meditate on You.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੬॥
nānak kē prabh sadā sukhadātē mai tān tērā ik nāu .4.7.46.
The Lord God of Nanak is forever the Giver of peace; Your Name is my only strength. ||4||7||46||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਏਹੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਜਨਹਿ ਪੀਓ ॥
anmrit nām tumhārā thākur ēh mahā ras janah pīō .
Your Name is Ambrosial Nectar, O Lord Master; Your humble servant drinks in this supreme elixir.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਚੂਕੇ ਭੈ ਭਾਰੇ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਬਿਨਾਸਿਓ ਭਰਮੁ ਬੀਓ ॥੧॥
janam janam chūkē bhai bhārē durat bināsiō bharam bīō .1.
The fearful load of sins from countless incarnations has vanished; doubt and duality are also dispelled. ||1||
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਮੈ ਜੀਓ ॥
darasan pēkhat mai jīō .
I live by beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਰੁ ਥੀਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sun kar bachan tumhārē satigur man tan mērā thār thīō .1. rahāu .
Listening to Your Words, O True Guru, my mind and body are cooled and soothed. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਏਹੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਆਪਿ ਕੀਓ ॥
tumharī kripā tē bhaiō sādhasang ēh kāj tumh āp kīō .
By Your Grace, I have joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; You Yourself have caused this to happen.
ਦਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਰੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਭਈ ਖੀਓ ॥੨॥
dir kar charan gahē prabh tumharē sahajē bikhiā bhaī khīō .2.
Holding fast to Your Feet, O God, the poison is easily neutralized. ||2||
ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਏਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਲੀਓ ॥
sukh nidhān nām prabh tumarā ēh abināsī mantr līō .
Your Name, O God, is the treasure of peace; I have received this everlasting Mantra.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੈਰੁ ਗੀਓ ॥੩॥
kar kirapā mōh satigur dīnā tāp santāp mērā bair gīō .3.
Showing His Mercy, the True Guru has given it to me, and my fever and pain and hatred are annulled. ||3||
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਓ ॥
dhann s mānas dēhī pāī jit prabh apanai mēl līō .
Blessed is the attainment of this human body, by which God blends Himself with me.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੀਓ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੭॥
dhann s kalijug sādhasang kīratan gāīai nānak nām adhār hīō .4.8.47.
Blessed, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, is the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, where the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung.O Nanak, the Naam is my only Support. ||4||8||47||
