ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਾ ॥
guradēv mātā guradēv pitā guradēv suāmī paramēsurā .
The Divine Guru is our mother, the Divine Guru is our father; the Divine Guru is our Lord and Master, the Transcendent Lord.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਖਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਬੰਧਿਪ ਸਹੋਦਰਾ ॥
guradēv sakhā agiān bhanjan guradēv bandhip sahōdarā .
The Divine Guru is my companion, the Destroyer of ignorance; the Divine Guru is my relative and brother.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਨਿਰੋਧਰਾ ॥
guradēv dātā har nām upadēsai guradēv mant nirōdharā .
The Divine Guru is the Giver, the Teacher of the Lord's Name. The Divine Guru is the Mantra which never fails.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸ ਪਰਾ ॥
guradēv sānht sat budh mūrat guradēv pāras paras parā .
The Divine Guru is the image of peace, truth and wisdom. The Divine Guru is the Philosopher's Stone - touching it, one is transformed.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰਾ ॥
guradēv tīrath anmrit sarōvar gur giān majan aparanparā .
The Divine Guru is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage, and the pool of divine nectar; bathing in the Guru's wisdom, one experiences the Infinite.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਹਰਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਕਰਾ ॥
guradēv karatā sabh pāp haratā guradēv patit pavit karā .
The Divine Guru is the Creator, and the Destroyer of all sins; the Divine Guru is the Purifier of sinners.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਾ ॥
guradēv ād jugād jug jug guradēv mant har jap udharā .
The Divine Guru existed in the very beginning, throughout the ages, in each and every age. The Divine Guru is the Mantra of the Lord's Name; chanting it, one is saved.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਾ ॥
guradēv sangat prabh mēl kar kirapā ham mūr pāpī jit lag tarā .
O God, please be merciful to me, that I may be with the Divine Guru; I am a foolish sinner, but holding onto Him, I will be carried across.
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਰਾ ॥੧॥

The Divine Guru is the True Guru, the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord; Nanak bows in humble reverence to the Lord, the Divine Guru. ||1||

I bow to the Guru of the ages.

simarau simar simar sukh pāvau .
Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥
kal kalēs tan māh mitāvau .
Worry and anguish shall be dispelled from your body.
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਜਾਸੁ ਬਿਸੁੰਭਰ ਏਕੈ ॥
simarau jās bisunbhar ēkai .
Remember in praise the One who pervades the whole Universe.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਨੇਕੈ ॥
nām japat aganat anēkai .
His Name is chanted by countless people, in so many ways.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਧਾਖ੍ਯਰ ॥
bēd purān sinmrit sudhākhyar .
The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, the purest of utterances,
ਕੀਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਆਖ੍ਯਰ ॥
kīnē rām nām ik ākhyar .
were created from the One Word of the Name of the Lord.
ਕਿਨਕਾ ਏਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਜੀਅ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥
kinakā ēk jis jī basāvai .
That one, in whose soul the One Lord dwells
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਗਨੀ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
tā kī mahimā ganī n āvai .
- the Praises of His glory cannot be recounted.
ਕਾਂਖੀ ਏਕੈ ਦਰਸ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ॥
kānhkhī ēkai daras tuhārō .
Those who yearn only for the blessing of Your Darshan
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
nānak un sang mōh udhārō .1.
- Nanak: save me along with them! ||1||
ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸੁਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
sukhamanī sukh anmrit prabh nām .
Sukhmani: Peace of Mind, the Nectar of the Name of God.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagat janā kai man bisrām . rahāu .
The minds of the devotees abide in a joyful peace. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਬਸੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran garabh n basai .
Remembering God, one does not have to enter into the womb again.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਮੁ ਨਸੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran dūkh jam nasai .
Remembering God, the pain of death is dispelled.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran kāl paraharai .
Remembering God, death is eliminated.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਟਰੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran dusaman tarai .
Remembering God, one's enemies are repelled.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
prabh simarat kash bighan n lāgai .
Remembering God, no obstacles are met.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran anadin jāgai .
Remembering God, one remains awake and aware, night and day.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran bhau n biāpai .
Remembering God, one is not touched by fear.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran dukh n santāpai .
Remembering God, one does not suffer sorrow.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
prabh kā simaran sādh kai sang .
The meditative remembrance of God is in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
sarab nidhān nānak har rang .2.
All treasures, O Nanak, are in the Love of the Lord. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ॥
prabh kai simaran ridh sidh nau nidh .
In the remembrance of God are wealth, miraculous spiritual powers and the nine treasures.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੁਧਿ ॥

In the remembrance of God are knowledge, meditation and the essence of wisdom.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran jap tap pūjā .
In the remembrance of God are chanting, intense meditation and devotional worship.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran binasai dūjā .
In the remembrance of God, duality is removed.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥
prabh kai simaran tīrath isanānī .
In the remembrance of God are purifying baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
prabh kai simaran daragah mānī .
In the remembrance of God, one attains honor in the Court of the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran hōi s bhalā .
In the remembrance of God, one becomes good.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran suphal phalā .
In the remembrance of God, one flowers in fruition.
ਸੇ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਮਰਾਏ ॥
sē simarah jin āp simarāē .
They alone remember Him in meditation, whom He inspires to meditate.
