Gauree Bairaagan, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਸੁਤੁ ਜਣਿ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
jiu jananī sut jan pālatī rākhai nadar majhār .
Just as the mother, having given birth to a son, feeds him and keeps him in her vision
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੋਚਾਰਿ ॥
antar bāhar mukh dē girās khin khin pōchār .
- indoors and outdoors, she puts food in his mouth; each and every moment, she caresses him.
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰਾਖਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
tiu satigur gurasikh rākhatā har prīt piār .1.
In just the same way, the True Guru protects His GurSikhs, who love their Beloved Lord. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਹੈ ਇਆਣੇ ॥
mērē rām ham bārik har prabh kē hai iānē .
O my Lord, we are just the ignorant children of our Lord God.
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਧਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇ ਕੀਏ ਸਿਆਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhann dhann gurū gur satigur pādhā jin har upadēs dē kīē siānē .1. rahāu .
Hail, hail, to the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru, the Divine Teacher who has made me wise through the Lord's Teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੀ ਗਗਨਿ ਫਿਰੰਤੀ ਊਡਤੀ ਕਪਰੇ ਬਾਗੇ ਵਾਲੀ ॥
jaisī gagan phirantī ūdatī kaparē bāgē vālī .
The white flamingo circles through the sky,
ਓਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਚੀਤੁ ਪੀਛੈ ਬਿਚਿ ਬਚਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੀ ॥
ōh rākhai chīt pīshai bich bacharē nit hiradai sār samālī .
but she keeps her young ones in her mind; she has left them behind, but she constantly remembers them in her heart.
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰਖੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
tiu satigur sikh prīt har har kī gur sikh rakhai jī nālī .2.
In just the same way, the True Guru loves His Sikhs. The Lord cherishes His GurSikhs, and keeps them clasped to His Heart. ||2||
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਤੀ ਤੀਸ ਬਤੀਸ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਸਨਾ ਮਾਸ ਰਤੁ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
jaisē kātī tīs batīs hai vich rākhai rasanā mās rat kērī .
Just as the tongue, made of flesh and blood, is protected within the scissors of the thirty-two teeth
ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਮਾਸ ਕਾਤੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
kōī jānah mās kātī kai kish hāth hai sabh vasagat hai har kērī .
- who thinks that the power lies in the flesh or the scissors? Everything is in the power of the Lord.
ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੈਜ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥੩॥
tiu sant janā kī nar nindā karah har rākhai paij jan kērī .3.
In just the same way, when someone slanders the Saint, the Lord preserves the honor of His servant. ||3||
ਭਾਈ ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
bhāī mat kōī jānah kisī kai kish hāth hai sabh karē karāiā .
O Siblings of Destiny, let none think that they have any power. All act as the Lord causes them to act.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਿਰਤਿ ਸਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਗਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
jarā marā tāp sirat sāp sabh har kai vas hai kōī lāg n sakai bin har kā lāiā .
Old age, death, fever, poisons and snakes - everything is in the Hands of the Lord. Nothing can touch anyone without the Lord's Order.
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਨਿਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥੫੧॥
aisā har nām man chit nit dhiāvah jan nānak jō antī ausar laē shadāiā .4.7.13.51.
Within your conscious mind, O servant Nanak, meditate forever on the Name of the Lord, who shall deliver you in the end. ||4||7||13||51||

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
jis miliai man hōi anand sō satigur kahīai .
Meeting Him, the mind is filled with bliss. He is called the True Guru.
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥
man kī dubidhā binas jāi har param pad lahīai .1.
Double-mindedness departs, and the supreme status of the Lord is obtained. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
mērā satigur piārā kit bidh milai .
How can I meet my Beloved True Guru?
ਹਉ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਕਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau khin khin karī namasakār mērā gur pūrā kiu milai .1. rahāu .
Each and every moment, I humbly bow to Him. How will I meet my Perfect Guru? ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
kar kirapā har mēliā mērā satigur pūrā .
Granting His Grace, the Lord has led me to meet my Perfect True Guru.
ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀਆ ਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧੂਰਾ ॥੨॥
ish punnī jan kērīā lē satigur dhūrā .2.
The desire of His humble servant has been fulfilled. I have received the dust of the Feet of the True Guru. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਣੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੀਐ ॥
har bhagat drirāvai har bhagat sunai tis satigur milīai .
Those who meet the True Guru implant devotional worship to the Lord, and listen to this devotional worship of the Lord.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਨਿਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਐ ॥੩॥
tōtā mūl n āvaī har lābh nit drirīai .3.
They never suffer any loss; they continually earn the profit of the Lord. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jis kau ridai vigās hai bhāu dūjā nāhī .
One whose heart blossoms forth, is not in love with duality.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪॥੫੨॥
nānak tis gur mil udharai har gun gāvāhī .4.8.14.52.
O Nanak, meeting the Guru, one is saved, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||8||14||52||

Fourth Mehl, Gauree Poorbee:
ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੀ ॥
har daiāl daiā prabh kīnī mērai man tan mukh har bōlī .
The Merciful Lord God showered me with His Mercy; with mind and body and mouth, I chant the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਗੂੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚੋਲੀ ॥੧॥
guramukh rang bhaiā at gūrā har rang bhīnī mērī chōlī .1.
As Gurmukh, I have been dyed in the deep and lasting color of the Lord's Love. The robe of my body is drenched with His Love. ||1||
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਉ ਗੋਲੀ ॥
apunē har prabh kī hau gōlī .
I am the maid-servant of my Lord God.
ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਗੋਲ ਅਮੋਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab ham har sētī man māniā kar dīnō jagat sabh gōl amōlī .1. rahāu .
When my mind surrendered to the Lord, He made all the world my slave. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ਖੋਜਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੀ ॥
karah bibēk sant jan bhāī khōj hiradai dēkh dhandhōlī .
Consider this well, O Saints, O Siblings of Destiny - search your own hearts, seek and find Him there.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਭ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਲੀ ॥੨॥
har har rūp sabh jōt sabāī har nikat vasai har kōlī .2.
The Beauty and the Light of the Lord, Har, Har, is present in all. In all places, the Lord dwells near by, close at hand. ||2||
