ਉਤੰਗੀ ਪੈਓਹਰੀ ਗਹਿਰੀ ਗੰਭੀਰੀ ॥
utangī paiōharī gahirī ganbhīrī .
O you with swollen breasts, let your consciousness become deep and profound.
ਸਸੁੜਿ ਸੁਹੀਆ ਕਿਵ ਕਰੀ ਨਿਵਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਥਣੀ ॥
sasur suhīā kiv karī nivan n jāi thanī .
O mother-in-law, how can I bow? Because of my stiff nipples, I cannot bow.
ਗਚੁ ਜਿ ਲਗਾ ਗਿੜਵੜੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਧਉਲਹਰੀ ॥
gach j lagā giravarī sakhīē dhaulaharī .
O sister, those mansions built as high as mountains
ਸੇ ਭੀ ਢਹਦੇ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਮੁੰਧ ਨ ਗਰਬੁ ਥਣੀ ॥੧॥
sē bhī dhahadē dith mai mundh n garab thanī .1.
- I have seen them come crumbling down. O bride, do not be so proud of your nipples. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਹਰਣਾਖੀਏ ਗੂੜਾ ਵੈਣੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sun mundhē haranākhīē gūrā vain apār .
O bride with deer-like eyes, listen to the words of deep and infinite wisdom.
ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਕੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਚੈ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
pahilā vasat siñān kai tānh kīchai vāpār .
First, examine the merchandise, and then, make the deal.
ਦੋਹੀ ਦਿਚੈ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਕੂੰ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
dōhī dichai durajanā mitrānh kūn jaikār .
Proclaim that you will not associate with evil people; celebrate victory with your friends.
ਜਿਤੁ ਦੋਹੀ ਸਜਣ ਮਿਲਨਿ ਲਹੁ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
jit dōhī sajan milan lah mundhē vīchār .
This proclamation, to meet with your friends, O bride - give it some thought.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਜਣਾ ਐਸਾ ਹਸਣੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
tan man dījai sajanā aisā hasan sār .
Surrender mind and body to the Lord your Friend; this is the most excellent pleasure.
ਤਿਸ ਸਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਜਿ ਦਿਸੈ ਚਲਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
tis sau nēh n kīchaī j disai chalanahār .
Do not fall in love with one who is destined to leave.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹੀ ਇਵ ਕਰਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
nānak jinhī iv kar bujhiā tinhā vitah kurabān .2.
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who understand this. ||2||
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਰੂ ਪਾਣਿ ਤਾਹੂ ਪੁਛੁ ਤਿੜੰਨ੍ਹ ਕਲ ॥
jē tūn tārū pān tāhū push tirannh kal .
If you wish to swim across the water, then consult those who know how to swim.
ਤਾਹੂ ਖਰੇ ਸੁਜਾਣ ਵੰਞਾ ਏਨ੍ਹੀ ਕਪਰੀ ॥੩॥
tāhū kharē sujān vanñā ēnhī kaparī .3.
Those who have survived these treacherous waves are very wise. ||3||
ਝੜ ਝਖੜ ਓਹਾੜ ਲਹਰੀ ਵਹਨਿ ਲਖੇਸਰੀ ॥
jhar jhakhar ōhār laharī vahan lakhēsarī .
The storm rages and the rain floods the land; thousands of waves rise and surge.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਆਲਾਇ ਬੇੜੇ ਡੁਬਣਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਉ ॥੪॥
satigur siu ālāi bērē duban nāh bhau .4.
If you cry out for help from the True Guru, you have nothing to fear - your boat will not sink. ||4||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੈਸੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
nānak dunīā kaisī hōī .
O Nanak, what has happened to the world?
ਸਾਲਕੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਕੋਈ ॥
sālak mit n rahiō kōī .
There is no guide or friend.
ਭਾਈ ਬੰਧੀ ਹੇਤੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
bhāī bandhī hēt chukāiā .
There is no love, even among brothers and relatives.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਦੀਨੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
dunīā kāran dīn gavāiā .5.
For the sake of the world, people have lost their faith. ||5||
ਹੈ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਓਹਿ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥
hai hai kar kai ōh karēn .
They cry and weep and wail.
ਗਲ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਟਨਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਖੋਹੇਨਿ ॥
galhā pitan sir khōhēn .
They slap their faces and pull their hair out.
ਨਾਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਅਰੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
nāu lain ar karan samāi .
But if they chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they shall be absorbed into it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੬॥
nānak tin balihārai jāi .6.
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to them. ||6||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਡੀਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਸੀਧੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਾਉ ॥
rē man dīg n dōlīai sīdhai mārag dhāu .
O my mind, do not waver or walk on the crooked path; take the straight and true path.
ਪਾਛੈ ਬਾਘੁ ਡਰਾਵਣੋ ਆਗੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਲਾਉ ॥
pāshai bāgh darāvanō āgai agan talāu .
The terrible tiger is behind you, and the pool of fire is ahead.
ਸਹਸੈ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਪਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਮਾ ਕਉ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਢੰਗੁ ॥
sahasai jīarā par rahiō mā kau avar n dhang .
My soul is skeptical and doubtful, but I cannot see any other way to go.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ॥੭॥
nānak guramukh shutīai har prītam siu sang .7.
O Nanak, as Gurmukh, dwell with your Beloved Lord, and you shall be saved. ||7||
ਬਾਘੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
bāgh marai man mārīai jis satigur dīkhiā hōi .
The tiger is killed, and the mind is killed, through the Teachings of the True Guru.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
āp pashānai har milai bahur n maranā hōi .
One who understands himself, meets with the Lord, and never dies again.
