ਕਬੀਰ ਚੁਗੈ ਚਿਤਾਰੈ ਭੀ ਚੁਗੈ ਚੁਗਿ ਚੁਗਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਚਰਹਿ ਕੂੰਜ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਰੇ ॥੧੨੩॥
kabīr chugai chitārai bhī chugai chug chug chitārē . jaisē bacharah kūnj man māiā mamatā rē .123.
Kabeer, the flamingo pecks and feeds, and remembers her chicks. She pecks and pecks and feeds, and remembers them always. Her chicks are very dear to her, just like the love of wealth and Maya is dear to the mortal's mind. ||123||
ਕਬੀਰ ਅੰਬਰ ਘਨਹਰੁ ਛਾਇਆ ਬਰਖਿ ਭਰੇ ਸਰ ਤਾਲ ॥
kabīr anbar ghanahar shāiā barakh bharē sar tāl .
Kabeer, the sky is overcast and cloudy; the ponds and lakes are overflowing with water.
ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਤਰਸਤ ਰਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਕਉਨੁ ਹਵਾਲੁ ॥੧੨੪॥
chātrik jiu tarasat rahai tin kō kaun havāl .124.
Like the rainbird, some remain thirsty - what is their condition? ||124||
ਕਬੀਰ ਚਕਈ ਜਉ ਨਿਸਿ ਬੀਛੁਰੈ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ॥
kabīr chakaī jau nis bīshurai āi milai parabhāt .
Kabeer, the chakvi duck is separated from her love through the night, but in the morning, she meets him again.
ਜੋ ਨਰ ਬਿਛੁਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਨਾ ਦਿਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੧੨੫॥
jō nar bishurē rām siu nā din milē n rāt .125.
Those who are separated from the Lord do not meet Him in the day, or in the night. ||125||
ਕਬੀਰ ਰੈਨਾਇਰ ਬਿਛੋਰਿਆ ਰਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਖ ਮਝੂਰਿ ॥
kabīr raināir bishōriā rah rē sankh majhūr .
Kabeer: O conch shell, remain in the ocean.
ਦੇਵਲ ਦੇਵਲ ਧਾਹੜੀ ਦੇਸਹਿ ਉਗਵਤ ਸੂਰ ॥੧੨੬॥
dēval dēval dhāharī dēsah ugavat sūr .126.
If you are separated from it, you shall scream at sunrise from temple to temple. ||126||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸੂਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਾਗੁ ਰੋਇ ਭੈ ਦੁਖ ॥
kabīr sūtā kiā karah jāg rōi bhai dukh .
Kabeer, what are you doing sleeping? Wake up and cry in fear and pain.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਬਾਸਾ ਗੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਸੋਵੈ ਸੁਖ ॥੧੨੭॥
jā kā bāsā gōr mah sō kiu sōvai sukh .127.
Those who live in the grave - how can they sleep in peace? ||127||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸੂਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਠਿ ਕਿ ਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
kabīr sūtā kiā karah uth k n japah murār .
Kabeer, what are you doing sleeping? Why not rise up and meditate on the Lord?
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਸੋਵਨੁ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਲਾਂਬੇ ਗੋਡ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥੧੨੮॥
ik din sōvan hōigō lānhbē gōd pasār .128.
One day you shall sleep with your legs outstretched. ||128||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸੂਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਰਹੁ ਅਰੁ ਜਾਗੁ ॥
kabīr sūtā kiā karah baithā rah ar jāg .
Kabeer, what are you doing sleeping? Wake up, and sit up.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਤੇ ਬੀਛੁਰਾ ਤਾ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧੨੯॥
jā kē sang tē bīshurā tā hī kē sang lāg .129.
Attach yourself to the One, from whom you have been separated. ||129||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਗੈਲ ਨ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਾਉ ॥
kabīr sant kī gail n shōdīai mārag lāgā jāu .
Kabeer, do not leave the Society of the Saints; walk upon this Path.
ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਪੁੰਨੀਤ ਹੋਇ ਭੇਟਤ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥੧੩੦॥
pēkhat hī punnīt hōi bhētat japīai nāu .130.
See them, and be sanctified; meet them, and chant the Name. ||130||
ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਦੂਰਹਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਭਾਗਿ ॥
kabīr sākat sang n kījīai dūrah jāīai bhāg .
Kabeer, do not associate with the faithless cynics; run far away from them.
ਬਾਸਨੁ ਕਾਰੋ ਪਰਸੀਐ ਤਉ ਕਛੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਦਾਗੁ ॥੧੩੧॥
bāsan kārō parasīai tau kash lāgai dāg .131.
If you touch a vessel stained with soot, some of the soot will stick to you. ||131||
ਕਬੀਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਜਰਾ ਪਹੂੰਚਿਓ ਆਇ ॥
kabīrā rām n chētiō jarā pahūnchiō āi .
Kabeer, you have not contemplated the Lord, and now old age has overtaken you.
ਲਾਗੀ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਦੁਆਰ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੩੨॥
lāgī mandir duār tē ab kiā kādhiā jāi .132.
Now that the door of your mansion is on fire, what can you take out? ||132||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਰਨੁ ਸੋ ਭਇਓ ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
kabīr kāran sō bhaiō jō kīnō karatār .
Kabeer, the Creator does whatever He pleases.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਸਰੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਏਕੈ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੧੩੩॥
tis bin dūsar kō nahī ēkai sirajanahār .133.
There is none other than Him; He alone is the Creator of all. ||133||
ਕਬੀਰ ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ਫਲਨਿ ਪਾਕਨਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਆਂਬ ॥
kabīr phal lāgē phalan pākan lāgē ānhb .
Kabeer, the fruit trees are bearing fruit, and the mangoes are becoming ripe.
ਜਾਇ ਪਹੂਚਹਿ ਖਸਮ ਕਉ ਜਉ ਬੀਚਿ ਨ ਖਾਹੀ ਕਾਂਬ ॥੧੩੪॥
jāi pahūchah khasam kau jau bīch n khāhī kānhb .134.
They will reach the owner, only if the crows do not eat them first. ||134||
ਕਬੀਰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੋਲਿ ਲੇ ਮਨਹਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
kabīr thākur pūjah mōl lē manahath tīrath jāh .
Kabeer, some buy idols and worship them; in their stubborn-mindedness, they make pilgrimages to sacred shrines.
ਦੇਖਾ ਦੇਖੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੁ ਧਰਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਭਟਕਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੧੩੫॥
dēkhā dēkhī svānhg dhar bhūlē bhatakā khāh .135.
They look at one another, and wear religious robes, but they are deluded and lost. ||135||
ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਹਨੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪੂਜੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
kabīr pāhan paramēsur kīā pūjai sabh sansār .
Kabeer, someone sets up a stone idol and all the world worships it as the Lord.
ਇਸ ਭਰਵਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਰਹੇ ਬੂਡੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਧਾਰ ॥੧੩੬॥
is bharavāsē jō rahē būdē kālī dhār .136.
Those who hold to this belief will be drowned in the river of darkness. ||136||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਗਦ ਕੀ ਓਬਰੀ ਮਸੁ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
kabīr kāgad kī ōbarī mas kē karam kapāt .
Kabeer, the paper is the prison, and the ink of rituals are the bars on the windows.
ਪਾਹਨ ਬੋਰੀ ਪਿਰਥਮੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪਾੜੀ ਬਾਟ ॥੧੩੭॥
pāhan bōrī pirathamī pandit pārī bāt .137.
The stone idols have drowned the world, and the Pandits, the religious scholars, have plundered it on the way. ||137||
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਲਿ ਕਰੰਤਾ ਅਬਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਅਬ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੁਇ ਤਾਲ ॥
kabīr kāl karantā abah kar ab karatā sui tāl .
Kabeer, that which you have to do tomorrow - do it today instead; and that which you have to do now - do it immediately!
ਪਾਛੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਜਉ ਸਿਰ ਪਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧੩੮॥
pāshai kashū n hōigā jau sir par āvai kāl .138.
Later on, you will not be able to do anything, when death hangs over your head. ||138||
ਕਬੀਰ ਐਸਾ ਜੰਤੁ ਇਕੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜੈਸੀ ਧੋਈ ਲਾਖ ॥
kabīr aisā jant ik dēkhiā jaisī dhōī lākh .
Kabeer, I have seen a person, who is as shiny as washed wax.
ਦੀਸੈ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਨਾ ਮਤਿ ਹੀਨਾ ਨਾਪਾਕ ॥੧੩੯॥
dīsai chanchal bah gunā mat hīnā nāpāk .139.
He seems very clever and very virtuous, but in reality, he is without understanding, and corrupt. ||139||
ਕਬੀਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਉ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸਕਾਰ ॥
kabīr mērī budh kau jam n karai tisakār .
Kabeer, the Messenger of Death shall not compromise my understanding.
ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਜਮੂਆ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਸੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਪਰਵਿਦਗਾਰ ॥੧੪੦॥
jin ih jamūā sirajiā s japiā paravidagār .140.
I have meditated on the Lord, the Cherisher, who created this Messenger of Death. ||140||
ਕਬੀਰੁ ਕਸਤੂਰੀ ਭਇਆ ਭਵਰ ਭਏ ਸਭ ਦਾਸ ॥
kabīr kasatūrī bhaiā bhavar bhaē sabh dās .
Kabeer, the Lord is like musk; all His slaves are like bumble bees.
