ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕੰਢੈ ਚਾੜੇ ॥
andh kūp tē kandhai chārē .
You pulled me out of the deep, dark well onto the dry ground.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥
kar kirapā dās nadar nihālē .
Showering Your Mercy, You blessed Your servant with Your Glance of Grace.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕਹਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
gun gāvah pūran abināsī kah sun tōt n āvaniā .4.
I sing the Glorious Praises of the Perfect, Immortal Lord. By speaking and hearing these Praises, they are not used up. ||4||
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
aithai ōthai tūnhai rakhavālā .
Here and hereafter, You are our Protector.
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਾ ॥
māt garabh mah tum hī pālā .
In the womb of the mother, You cherish and nurture the baby.
ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
māiā agan n pōhai tin kau rang ratē gun gāvaniā .5.
The fire of Maya does not affect those who are imbued with the Lord's Love; they sing His Glorious Praises. ||5||
ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਖਿ ਸਮਾਲੀ ॥
kiā gun tērē ākh samālī .
What Praises of Yours can I chant and contemplate?
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ॥
man tan antar tudh nadar nihālī .
Deep within my mind and body, I behold Your Presence.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
tūn mērā mīt sājan mērā suāmī tudh bin avar n jānaniā .6.
You are my Friend and Companion, my Lord and Master. Without You, I do not know any other at all. ||6||
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਇਆ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
jis kau tūn prabh bhaiā sahāī .
O God, that one, unto whom You have given shelter,
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਕਾਈ ॥
tis tatī vāu n lagai kāī .
is not touched by the hot winds.
ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
tū sāhib saran sukhadātā satasangat jap pragatāvaniā .7.
O my Lord and Master, You are my Sanctuary, the Giver of peace. Chanting, meditating on You in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, You are revealed. ||7||
ਤੂੰ ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ॥
tūn ūch athāh apār amōlā .
You are Exalted, Unfathomable, Infinite and Invaluable.
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੋਲਾ ॥
tūn sāchā sāhib dās tērā gōlā .
You are my True Lord and Master. I am Your servant and slave.
ਤੂੰ ਮੀਰਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਠਕੁਰਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੩॥੩੭॥
tūn mīrā sāchī thakurāī nānak bal bal jāvaniā .8.3.37.
You are the King, Your Sovereign Rule is True. Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You. ||8||3||37||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥
mājh mahalā 5 ghar 2 .
Maajh, Fifth Mehl, Second House:
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਦਯੁ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ॥
nit nit day samālīai .
Continually, continuously, remember the Merciful Lord.
ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mūl n manah visārīai . rahāu .
Never forget Him from your mind. ||Pause||
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
santā sangat pāīai .
Join the Society of the Saints,
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਪੰਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
jit jam kai panth n jāīai .
and you shall not have to go down the path of Death.
ਤੋਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੁਲਹਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਗਾਲਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tōsā har kā nām lai tērē kulah n lāgai gāl jīu .1.
Take the Provisions of the Lord's Name with you, and no stain shall attach itself to your family. ||1||
ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰੰਦੇ ਸਾਂਈਐ ॥
jō simarandē sānhīai .
Those who meditate on the Master
ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਸੇਈ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
narak n sēī pāīai .
shall not be thrown down into hell.
ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
tatī vāu n lagaī jin man vuthā āi jīu .2.
Even the hot winds shall not touch them. The Lord has come to dwell within their minds. ||2||
ਸੇਈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ॥
sēī sundar sōhanē .
They alone are beautiful and attractive,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਬੈਹਣੇ ॥
sādhasang jin baihanē .
who abide in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸੰਜਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har dhan jinī sanjiā sēī ganbhīr apār jīu .3.
Those who have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name-they alone are deep and thoughtful and vast. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ॥
har amiu rasāin pīvīai .
Drink in the Ambrosial Essence of the Name,
ਮੁਹਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਜੀਵੀਐ ॥
muh dithai jan kai jīvīai .
and live by beholding the face of the Lord's servant.
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਲੈ ਨਿਤ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਵ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
kāraj sabh savār lai nit pūjah gur kē pāv jīu .4.
Let all your affairs be resolved, by continually worshipping the Feet of the Guru. ||4||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ॥ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਜਾਪਣਾ ॥
jō har kītā āpanā . tinah gusāī jāpanā .
He alone meditates on the Lord of the World, whom the Lord has made His Own.
ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਸੋ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
sō sūrā paradhān sō masatak jis dai bhāg jīu .5.
He alone is a warrior, and he alone is the chosen one, upon whose forehead good destiny is recorded. ||5||
ਮਨ ਮੰਧੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਵਗਾਹੀਆ ॥
man mandhē prabh avagāhīā .
Within my mind, I meditate on God.
ਏਹਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਣ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ॥
ēh ras bhōgan pātisāhīā .
For me, this is like the enjoyment of princely pleasures.
ਮੰਦਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਤਰੇ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥
mandā mūl n upajiō tarē sachī kārai lāg jīu .6.
Evil does not well up within me, since I am saved, and dedicated to truthful actions. ||6||
ਕਰਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
karatā mann vasāiā .
I have enshrined the Creator within my mind;
ਜਨਮੈ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
janamai kā phal pāiā .
I have obtained the fruits of life's rewards.
ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥
man bhāvandā kant har tērā thir hōā sōhāg jīu .7.
If your Husband Lord is pleasing to your mind, then your married life shall be eternal. ||7||
ਅਟਲ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
atal padārath pāiā .
I have obtained everlasting wealth;
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥
bhai bhanjan kī saranāiā .
I have found the Sanctuary of the Dispeller of fear.
ਲਾਇ ਅੰਚਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥੪॥੩੮॥
lāi anchal nānak tārian jitā janam apār jīu .8.4.38.
Grasping hold of the hem of the Lord's robe, Nanak is saved. He has won the incomparable life. ||8||4||38||
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jap japē man dhīrē .1. rahāu .
Chanting and meditating on the Lord, the mind is held steady. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਭੈ ਦੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
simar simar guradēu mit gaē bhai dūrē .1.
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Divine Guru, one's fears are erased and dispelled. ||1||
ਸਰਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਝੂਰੇ ॥੨॥
saran āvai pārabraham kī tā phir kāhē jhūrē .2.
Entering the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, how could anyone feel grief any longer? ||2||
