ਜਬ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਆਇ ਬਸੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਸਨਿ ਤਬ ਹਮ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
jab pri āi basē grih āsan tab ham mangal gāiā .
When my Beloved came to live in my house, I began to sing the songs of bliss.
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
mīt sājan mērē bhaē suhēlē prabh pūrā gurū milāiā .3.
My friends and companions are happy; God leads me to meet the Perfect Guru. ||3||
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਹਮਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
sakhī sahēlī bhaē anandā gur kāraj hamarē pūrē .
My friends and companions are in ecstasy; the Guru has completed all my projects.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਦੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥
kah nānak var miliā sukhadātā shōd n jāī dūrē .4.3.
Says Nanak, I have met my Husband, the Giver of peace; He shall never leave me and go away. ||4||3||

Malaar, Fifth Mehl:
ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਕੀਟ ਕੀਟ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਪਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੋਖ ਜਠਰ ਕਉ ਭਰਤੇ ॥
rāj tē kīt kīt tē surapat kar dōkh jathar kau bharatē .
From a king to a worm, and from a worm to the lord of gods, they engage in evil to fill their bellies.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਆਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ਹਰਤੇ ॥੧॥
kripā nidh shōd ān kau pūjah ātam ghātī haratē .1.
They renounce the Lord, the Ocean of Mercy, and worship some other; they are thieves and killers of the soul. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰਤੇ ॥
har bisarat tē dukh dukh maratē .
Forgetting the Lord, they suffer in sorrow and die.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਟੇਕ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਧਰਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anik bār bhramah bah jōnī tēk n kāhū dharatē .1. rahāu .
They wander lost in reincarnation through all sorts of species; they do not find shelter anywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਨ ਕਉ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਖਲ ਖਰ ਤੇ ॥
tiāg suāmī ān kau chitavat mūr mugadh khal khar tē .
Those who abandon their Lord and Master and think of some other, are foolish, stupid, idiotic donkeys.
ਕਾਗਰ ਨਾਵ ਲੰਘਹਿ ਕਤ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਕਥਤ ਹਮ ਤਰਤੇ ॥੨॥
kāgar nāv langhah kat sāgar brithā kathat ham taratē .2.
How can they cross over the ocean in a paper boat? Their eogtistical boasts that they will cross over are meaningless. ||2||
ਸਿਵ ਬਿਰੰਚਿ ਅਸੁਰ ਸੁਰ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਜਰਤੇ ॥
siv biranch asur sur jētē kāl agan mah jaratē .
Shiva, Brahma, angels and demons, all burn in the fire of death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਨ ਕੀ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਨ ਡਾਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਤੇ ॥੩॥੪॥
nānak saran charan kamalan kī tumh n dārah prabh karatē .3.4.
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet; O God, Creator, please do not send me into exile. ||3||4||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਓਇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
prabh mērē ōi bairāgī tiāgī .
My God is detached and free of desire.
ਹਉ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau ik khin tis bin rah n sakau prīt hamārī lāgī .1. rahāu .
I cannot survive without Him, even for an instant. I am so in love with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਉਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਾਗੀ ॥
un kai sang mōh prabh chit āvai sant prasād mōh jāgī .
Associating with the Saints, God has come into my consciousness. By their Grace, I have been awakened.
ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਂਗੀ ॥੧॥
sun upadēs bhaē man niramal gun gāē rang rānhgī .1.
Hearing the Teachings, my mind has become immaculate. Imbued with the Lord's Love, I sing His Glorious Praises. ||1||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਕੀਏ ਸੰਤ ਮੀਤਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਂ ॥
ih man dēi kīē sant mītā kripāl bhaē badabhāgīnh .
Dedicating this mind, I have made friends with the Saints. They have become merciful to me; I am very fortunate.
ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਰੇਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੫॥
mahā sukh pāiā baran n sākau rēn nānak jan pāgī .2.1.5.
I have found absolute peace - I cannot describe it. Nanak has obtained the dust of the feet of the humble. ||2||1||5||

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
māī mōh prītam dēh milāī .
O mother, please lead me to union with my Beloved.
ਸਗਲ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਸੁਖ ਭਰਿ ਸੂਤੀ ਜਿਹ ਘਰਿ ਲਾਲੁ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal sahēlī sukh bhar sūtī jih ghar lāl basāī .1. rahāu .
All my friends and companions sleep totally in peace; their Beloved Lord has come into the homes of their hearts. ||1||Pause||
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਵਗਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਕਿਆ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
mōh avagan prabh sadā daiālā mōh niragun kiā chaturāī .
I am worthless; God is forever Merciful. I am unworthy; what clever tricks could I try?
ਕਰਉ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੀ ਢੀਠਾਈ ॥੧॥
karau barābar jō pri sang rātīnh ih haumai kī dhīthāī .1.
I claim to be on a par with those who are imbued with the Love of their Beloved. This is my stubborn egotism. ||1||
ਭਈ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਇਕ ਤਾਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
bhaī nimānī saran ik tākī gur satigur purakh sukhadāī .
I am dishonored - I seek the Sanctuary of the One, the Guru, the True Guru, the Primal Being, the Giver of peace.
ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਹਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਹਾਈ ॥੨॥੨॥੬॥
ēk nimakh mah mērā sabh dukh kātiā nānak sukh rain bihāī .2.2.6.
In an instant, all my pains have been taken away; Nanak passes the night of his life in peace. ||2||2||6||

ਬਰਸੁ ਮੇਘ ਜੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਨ ਲਾਉ ॥
baras mēgh jī til bilam n lāu .
Rain down, O cloud; do not delay.
ਬਰਸੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਧਾਰੇ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
baras piārē manah sadhārē hōi anad sadā man chāu .1. rahāu .
O beloved cloud, O support of the mind, you bring lasting bliss and joy to the mind. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਧਰ ਸੁਆਮੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
ham tērī dhar suāmīā mērē tū kiu manah bisārē .
I take to Your Support, O my Lord and Master; how could You forget me?
