ਹੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਕਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
hai hajūr kat dūr batāvah .
God is present, right here at hand; why do you say that He is far away?
ਦੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਧਹੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dundar bādhah sundar pāvah .1. rahāu .
Tie up your disturbing passions, and find the Beauteous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
kājī sō j kāiā bīchārai .
He alone is a Qazi, who contemplates the human body,
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਜਾਰੈ ॥
kāiā kī agan braham parajārai .
and through the fire of the body, is illumined by God.
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਝਰਨਾ ॥
supanai bind n dēī jharanā .
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਜੀ ਕਉ ਜਰਾ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
tis kājī kau jarā n maranā .2.
for such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਰ ਤਾਨੈ ॥
sō suratān j dui sar tānai .
He alone is a sultan and a king, who shoots the two arrows,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਨੈ ॥
bāhar jātā bhītar ānai .
gathers in his outgoing mind,
ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
gagan mandal mah lasakar karai .
and assembles his army in the realm of the mind's sky, the Tenth Gate.
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
sō suratān shatr sir dharai .3.
The canopy of royalty waves over such a sultan. ||3||
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
jōgī gōrakh gōrakh karai .
The Yogi cries out, "Gorakh, Gorakh".
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
hindū rām nām ucharai .
The Hindu utters the Name of Raam.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਾ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
musalamān kā ēk khudāi .
The Muslim has only One God.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
kabīr kā suāmī rahiā samāi .4.3.11.
The Lord and Master of Kabeer is all-pervading. ||4||3||11||

ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਕਹਤੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
jō pāthar kau kahatē dēv .
Those who call a stone their god
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥
tā kī birathā hōvai sēv .
- their service is useless.
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
jō pāthar kī pānhī pāi .
Those who fall at the feet of a stone god
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
tis kī ghāl ajānhī jāi .1.
- their work is wasted in vain. ||1||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਸਦ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥
thākur hamarā sad bōlantā .
My Lord and Master speaks forever.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab jīā kau prabh dān dētā .1. rahāu .
God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥
antar dēu n jānai andh .
The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਫੰਧੁ ॥
bhram kā mōhiā pāvai phandh .
Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose.
ਨ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
n pāthar bōlai nā kish dēi .
The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone.
ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥
phōkat karam nihaphal hai sēv .2.
Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2||
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥
jē miratak kau chandan charāvai .
If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil,
ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
us tē kahah kavan phal pāvai .
what good does it do?
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੁਲਾਈ ॥
jē miratak kau bisatā māh rulāī .
If a corpse is rolled in manure,
ਤਾਂ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
tānh miratak kā kiā ghat jāī .3.
what does it lose from this? ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਕਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
kahat kabīr hau kahau pukār .
Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud
ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
samajh dēkh sākat gāvār .
- behold, and understand, You ignorant, faithless cynic.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
dūjai bhāi bahut ghar gālē .
The love of duality has ruined countless homes.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
rām bhagat hai sadā sukhālē .4.4.12.
The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12||
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਮੀਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੇਧੇ ॥
jal mah mīn māiā kē bēdhē .
The fish in the water is attached to Maya.
ਦੀਪਕ ਪਤੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਛੇਦੇ ॥
dīpak patang māiā kē shēdē .
The moth fluttering around the lamp is pierced through by Maya.
ਕਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
kām māiā kunchar kau biāpai .
The sexual desire of Maya afflicts the elephant.
ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖਾਪੇ ॥੧॥
bhuiangam bhring māiā mah khāpē .1.
The snakes and bumble bees are destroyed through Maya. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆ ਐਸੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
māiā aisī mōhanī bhāī .
Such are the enticements of Maya, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਡਹਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jētē jī tētē dahakāī .1. rahāu .
As many living beings are there are, have been deceived. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਖੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
pankhī mrig māiā mah rātē .
The birds and the deer are imbued with Maya.
ਸਾਕਰ ਮਾਖੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
sākar mākhī adhik santāpē .
Sugar is a deadly trap for the flies.
ਤੁਰੇ ਉਸਟ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਭੇਲਾ ॥
turē usat māiā mah bhēlā .
Horses and camels are absorbed in Maya.
ਸਿਧ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
sidh chaurāsīh māiā mah khēlā .2.
The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of miraculous spiritual powers, play in Maya. ||2||
ਛਿਅ ਜਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ॥
shi jatī māiā kē bandā .
The six celibates are slaves of Maya.
ਨਵੈ ਨਾਥ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਰੁ ਚੰਦਾ ॥
navai nāth sūraj ar chandā .
So are the nine masters of Yoga, and the sun and the moon.
ਤਪੇ ਰਖੀਸਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਤਾ ॥
tapē rakhīsar māiā mah sūtā .
The austere disciplinarians and the Rishis are asleep in Maya.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਾ ॥੩॥
māiā mah kāl ar panch dūtā .3.
Death and the five demons are in Maya. ||3||
ਸੁਆਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
suān siāl māiā mah rātā .
Dogs and jackals are imbued with Maya.
ਬੰਤਰ ਚੀਤੇ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਤਾ ॥
bantar chītē ar singhātā .
Monkeys, leopards and lions,
ਮਾਂਜਾਰ ਗਾਡਰ ਅਰੁ ਲੂਬਰਾ ॥
mānhjār gādar ar lūbarā .
cats, sheep, foxes,
ਬਿਰਖ ਮੂਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥
birakh mūl māiā mah parā .4.
trees and roots are planted in Maya. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
māiā antar bhīnē dēv .
Even the gods are drenched with Maya,
ਸਾਗਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਅਰੁ ਧਰਤੇਵ ॥
sāgar indrā ar dharatēv .
as are the oceans, the sky and the earth.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਦਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
kah kabīr jis udar tis māiā .
Says Kabeer, whoever has a belly to fill, is under the spell of Maya.
ਤਬ ਛੂਟੇ ਜਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
tab shūtē jab sādhū pāiā .5.5.13.
The mortal is emancipated only when he meets the Holy Saint. ||5||5||13||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
jab lag mērī mērī karai .
As long as he cries out, "Mine! Mine!",
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਰੈ ॥
tab lag kāj ēk nahī sarai .
none of his tasks is accomplished.
ਜਬ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jab mērī mērī mit jāi .
