ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਅਵਰ ਮੂਏ ਕਿਆ ਸੋਗੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
avar mūē kiā sōg karījai .
Why do you cry and mourn, when another person dies?
ਤਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਉ ਆਪਨ ਜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
tau kījai jau āpan jījai .1.
Do so only if you yourself are to live. ||1||
ਮੈ ਨ ਮਰਉ ਮਰਿਬੋ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
mai n marau maribō sansārā .
I shall not die as the rest of the world dies,
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਹੈ ਜੀਆਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ab mōh miliō hai jīāvanahārā .1. rahāu .
for now I have met the life-giving Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਇਆ ਦੇਹੀ ਪਰਮਲ ਮਹਕੰਦਾ ॥
iā dēhī paramal mahakandā .
People anoint their bodies with fragrant oils,
ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
tā sukh bisarē paramānandā .2.
and in that pleasure, they forget the supreme bliss. ||2||
ਕੂਅਟਾ ਏਕੁ ਪੰਚ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
kūatā ēk panch panihārī .
There is one well, and five water-carriers.
ਟੂਟੀ ਲਾਜੁ ਭਰੈ ਮਤਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
tūtī lāj bharai mat hārī .3.
Even though the rope is broken, the fools continue trying to draw water. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
kah kabīr ik budh bīchārī .
Says Kabeer, through contemplation, I have obtained this one understanding.
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਕੂਅਟਾ ਨਾ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
nā ōh kūatā nā panihārī .4.12.
There is no well, and no water-carrier. ||4||12||
