ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਸਿਉ ਘਾਲੈ ਧੰਧਾ ॥
par nārī siu ghālai dhandhā .
and has an affair with another woman.
ਜੈਸੇ ਸਿੰਬਲੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੂਆ ਬਿਗਸਾਨਾ ॥
jaisē sinbal dēkh sūā bigasānā .
He is like the parrot, who is pleased to see the simbal tree;
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਮੂਆ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
ant kī bār mūā lapatānā .1.
but in the end, he dies, stuck to it. ||1||
ਪਾਪੀ ਕਾ ਘਰੁ ਅਗਨੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
pāpī kā ghar aganē māh .
The home of the sinner is on fire.
ਜਲਤ ਰਹੈ ਮਿਟਵੈ ਕਬ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jalat rahai mitavai kab nāh .1. rahāu .
It keeps burning, and the fire cannot be extinguished. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਦੇਖੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
har kī bhagat n dēkhai jāi .
He does not go to see where the Lord is being worshipped.
ਮਾਰਗੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
mārag shōd amārag pāi .
He abandons the Lord's Path, and takes the wrong path.
ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
mūlah bhūlā āvai jāi .
He forgets the Primal Lord God, and is caught in the cycle of reincarnation.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਡਾਰਿ ਲਾਦਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥
anmrit dār lād bikh khāi .2.
He throws away the Ambrosial Nectar, and gathers poison to eat. ||2||
ਜਿਉ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਕੇ ਪਰੈ ਅਖਾਰਾ ॥
jiu bēsvā kē parai akhārā .
He is like the prostitute, who comes to dance,
ਕਾਪਰੁ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੀਂਗਾਰਾ ॥
kāpar pahir karah sīnhgārā .
wearing beautiful clothes, decorated and adorned.
ਪੂਰੇ ਤਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਸ ॥
pūrē tāl nihālē sās .
She dances to the beat, exciting the breath of those who watch her.
ਵਾ ਕੇ ਗਲੇ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਫਾਸ ॥੩॥
vā kē galē jam kā hai phās .3.
But the noose of the Messenger of Death is around her neck. ||3||
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
jā kē masatak likhiō karamā .
One who has good karma recorded on his forehead,
ਸੋ ਭਜਿ ਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
sō bhaj par hai gur kī saranā .
hurries to enter the Guru's Sanctuary.
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਇਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
kahat nāmadēu ih bīchār .

ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਉਤਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੨॥੮॥
