ਕਬਹੂ ਖੀਰਿ ਖਾਡ ਘੀਉ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū khīr khād ghīu n bhāvai .
Sometimes, people do not appreciate milk, sugar and ghee.
ਕਬਹੂ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਟੂਕ ਮਗਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū ghar ghar tūk magāvai .
Sometimes, they have to beg for bread from door to door.
ਕਬਹੂ ਕੂਰਨੁ ਚਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
kabahū kūran chanē bināvai .1.
Sometimes, they have to pick out the grain from the chaff. ||1||
ਜਿਉ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
jiu rām rākhai tiu rahīai rē bhāī .
As the Lord keeps us, so do we live, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kī mahimā kish kathan n jāī .1. rahāu .
The Lord's Glory cannot even be described. ||1||Pause||
ਕਬਹੂ ਤੁਰੇ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਨਚਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū turē turang nachāvai .
Sometimes, people prance around on horses.
ਕਬਹੂ ਪਾਇ ਪਨਹੀਓ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
kabahū pāi panahīō n pāvai .2.
Sometimes, they do not even have shoes for their feet. ||2||
ਕਬਹੂ ਖਾਟ ਸੁਪੇਦੀ ਸੁਵਾਵੈ ॥
kabahū khāt supēdī suvāvai .
Sometimes, people sleep on cozy beds with white sheets.
ਕਬਹੂ ਭੂਮਿ ਪੈਆਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
kabahū bhūm paiār n pāvai .3.
Sometimes, they do not even have straw to put down on the ground. ||3||
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥
bhanat nāmadēu ik nām nisatārai .
Naam Dayv prays, only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save us.
ਜਿਹ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੫॥
jih gur milai tih pār utārai .4.5.
One who meets the Guru, is carried across to the other side. ||4||5||
