ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਸਚਾ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
sachā sēvī sach sālāhī .
Serve the True One, and praise the True One.
ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
sachai nāi dukh kab hī nāhī .
With the True Name, pain shall never afflict you.
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
sukhadātā sēvan sukh pāin guramat mann vasāvaniā .1.
Those who serve the Giver of peace find peace. They enshrine the Guru's Teachings within their minds. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vārī jīu vārī sukh sahaj samādh lagāvaniā .
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who intuitively enter into the peace of Samaadhi.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jō har sēvah sē sadā sōhah sōbhā surat suhāvaniā .1. rahāu .
Those who serve the Lord are always beautiful. The glory of their intuitive awareness is beautiful. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਗਤੁ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
sabh kō tērā bhagat kahāē .
All call themselves Your devotees,
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
sēī bhagat tērai man bhāē .
but they alone are Your devotees, who are pleasing to Your mind.
ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੁਧੈ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
sach bānī tudhai sālāhan rang rātē bhagat karāvaniā .2.
Through the True Word of Your Bani, they praise You; attuned to Your Love, they worship You with devotion. ||2||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਸਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
sabh kō sachē har jīu tērā .
All are Yours, O Dear True Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
guramukh milai tā chūkai phērā .
Meeting the Gurmukh, this cycle of reincarnation comes to an end.
ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਨਾਇ ਰਚਾਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਜਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
jā tudh bhāvai tā nāi rachāvah tūn āpē nāu japāvaniā .3.
When it pleases Your Will, then we merge in the Name. You Yourself inspire us to chant the Name. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
guramatī har mann vasāiā .
Through the Guru's Teachings, I enshrine the Lord within my mind.
ਹਰਖੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
harakh sōg sabh mōh gavāiā .
Pleasure and pain, and all emotional attachments are gone.
ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
ikas siu liv lāgī sad hī har nām mann vasāvaniā .4.
I am lovingly centered on the One Lord forever. I enshrine the Lord's Name within my mind. ||4||
ਭਗਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਾਏ ॥
bhagat rang rātē sadā tērai chāē .
Your devotees are attuned to Your Love; they are always joyful.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
nau nidh nām vasiā man āē .
The nine treasures of the Naam come to dwell within their minds.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
pūrai bhāg satigur pāiā sabadē mēl milāvaniā .5.
By perfect destiny, they find the True Guru, and through the Word of the Shabad, they are united in the Lord's Union. ||5||
ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
tūn daiāl sadā sukhadātā .
You are Merciful, and always the Giver of peace.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
tūn āpē mēlih guramukh jātā .
You Yourself unite us; You are known only to the Gurmukhs.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
tūn āpē dēvah nām vadāī nām ratē sukh pāvaniā .6.
You Yourself bestow the glorious greatness of the Naam; attuned to the Naam, we find peace. ||6||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
sadā sadā sāchē tudh sālāhī .
Forever and ever, O True Lord, I praise You.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
guramukh jātā dūjā kō nāhī .
As Gurmukh, I know no other at all.
ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਮਨਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
ēkas siu man rahiā samāē man manniai manah milāvaniā .7.
My mind remains immersed in the One Lord; my mind surrenders to Him, and in my mind I meet Him. ||7||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
guramukh hōvai sō sālāhē .
One who becomes Gurmukh, praises the Lord.
ਸਾਚੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
sāchē thākur vēparavāhē .
Our True Lord and Master is Carefree.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੧॥੨੨॥
nānak nām vasai man antar gur sabadī har mēlāvaniā .8.21.22.
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the mind; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, we merge with the Lord. ||8||21||22||
