ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
manasā mār sach samānī .
Subduing their desires, they merge with the True One;
ਇਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਡੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
in man dīthī sabh āvan jānī .
they see in their minds that everyone comes and goes in reincarnation.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
satigur sēvē sadā man nihachal nij ghar vāsā pāvaniā .3.
Serving the True Guru, they become stable forever, and they obtain their dwelling in the home of the self. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
gur kai sabad ridai dikhāiā .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is seen within one's own heart.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
māiā mōh sabad jalāiā .
Through the Shabad, I have burned my emotional attachment to Maya.
ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
sachō sachā vēkh sālāhī gur sabadī sach pāvaniā .4.
I gaze upon the Truest of the True, and I praise Him. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I obtain the True One. ||4||
ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jō sach rātē tin sachī liv lāgī .
Those who are attuned to Truth are blessed with the Love of the True One.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
har nām samālah sē vadabhāgī .
Those who praise the Lord's Name are very fortunate.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
sachai sabad āp milāē satasangat sach gun gāvaniā .5.
Through the Word of His Shabad, the True One blends with Himself, those who join the True Congregation and sing the Glorious Praises of the True One. ||5||
ਲੇਖਾ ਪੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
lēkhā parīai jē lēkhē vich hōvai .
We could read the account of the Lord, if He were in any account.
ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
ōh agam agōchar sabad sudh hōvai .
He is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; through the Shabad, understanding is obtained.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
anadin sach sabad sālāhī hōr kōi n kīmat pāvaniā .6.
Night and day, praise the True Word of the Shabad. There is no other way to know His Worth. ||6||
ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
par par thākē sānht n āī .
People read and recite until they grow weary, but they do not find peace.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਲੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
trisanā jālē sudh n kāī .
Consumed by desire, they have no understanding at all.
ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਹਾਝਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
bikh bihājhah bikh mōh piāsē kūr bōl bikh khāvaniā .7.
They purchase poison, and they are thirsty with their fascination for poison. Telling lies, they eat poison. ||7||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
gur parasādī ēkō jānā .
By Guru's Grace, I know the One.
ਦੂਜਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
dūjā mār man sach samānā .
Subduing my sense of duality, my mind is absorbed into the True One.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੭॥੧੮॥
nānak ēkō nām varatai man antar gur parasādī pāvaniā .8.17.18.
O Nanak, the One Name is pervading deep within my mind; by Guru's Grace, I receive it. ||8||17||18||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
mājh mahalā 3 .
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਏ ॥
sē sach lāgē jō tudh bhāē .
Those who please You are linked to the Truth.
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
sadā sach sēvah sahaj subhāē .
They serve the True One forever, with intuitive ease.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
sachai sabad sachā sālāhī sachai mēl milāvaniā .1.
Through the True Word of the Shabad, they praise the True One, and they merge in the merging of Truth. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਿਆ ॥
hau vārī jīu vārī sach sālāhaniā .
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who praise the True One.
ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sach dhiāin sē sach rātē sachē sach samāvaniā .1. rahāu .
Those who meditate on the True One are attuned to Truth; they are absorbed into the Truest of the True. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
jah dēkhā sach sabhanī thāī .
The True One is everywhere, wherever I look.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
gur parasādī mann vasāī .
By Guru's Grace, I enshrine Him in my mind.
ਤਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
tan sachā rasanā sach rātī sach sun ākh vakhānaniā .2.
True are the bodies of those whose tongues are attuned to Truth. They hear the Truth, and speak it with their mouths. ||2||
