ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਦੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
anadin jaladī phirai din rātī bin pir bah dukh pāvaniā .2.
Night and day, day and night, they burn. Without her Husband Lord, the soul-bride suffers in terrible pain. ||2||
ਦੇਹੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
dēhī jāt n āgai jāē .
Her body and her status shall not go with her to the world hereafter.
ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਛੁਟੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
jithai lēkhā mangīai tithai shutai sach kamāē .
Where she is called to answer for her account, there, she shall be emancipated only by true actions.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤੇ ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
satigur sēvan sē dhanavantē aithai ōthai nām samāvaniā .3.
Those who serve the True Guru shall prosper; here and hereafter, they are absorbed in the Naam. ||3||
ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਏ ॥
bhai bhāi sīgār banāē .
She who adorns herself with the Love and the Fear of God,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parasādī mahal ghar pāē .
by Guru's Grace, obtains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence as her home.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਬਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
anadin sadā ravai din rātī majīthai rang banāvaniā .4.
Night and day, day and night, she constantly ravishes and enjoys her Beloved. She is dyed in the permanent color of His Love. ||4||
ਸਭਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਸੈ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
sabhanā pir vasai sadā nālē .
The Husband Lord abides with everyone, always;
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥
gur parasādī kō nadar nihālē .
but how rare are those few who, by Guru's Grace, obtain His Glance of Grace.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਤਿ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
mērā prabh at ūchō ūchā kar kirapā āp milāvaniā .5.
My God is the Highest of the High; granting His Grace, He merges us into Himself. ||5||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੁਤਾ ॥
māiā mōh ih jag sutā .
This world is asleep in emotional attachment to Maya.
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਵਿਗੁਤਾ ॥
nām visār ant vigutā .
Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, it ultimately comes to ruin.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੁਤਾ ਸੋ ਜਾਗਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
jis tē sutā sō jāgāē guramat sōjhī pāvaniā .6.
The One who put it to sleep shall also awaken it. Through the Guru's Teachings, understanding dawns. ||6||
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਐ ਸੋ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
apiu pīai sō bharam gavāē .
One who drinks in this Nectar, shall have his delusions dispelled.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parasād mukat gat pāē .
By Guru's Grace, the state of liberation is attained.
ਭਗਤੀ ਰਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
bhagatī ratā sadā bairāgī āp mār milāvaniā .7.
One who is imbued with devotion to the Lord, remains always balanced and detached. Subduing selfishness and conceit, he is united with the Lord. ||7||
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
āp upāē dhandhai lāē .
He Himself creates, and He Himself assigns us to our tasks.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਪੜਾਏ ॥
lakh chaurāsī rijak āp aparāē .
He Himself gives sustenance to the 8.4 million species of beings.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੪॥੫॥
nānak nām dhiāi sach rātē jō tis bhāvai s kār karāvaniā .8.4.5.
O Nanak, those who meditate on the Naam are atuned to Truth. They do that which is pleasing to His Will. ||8||4||5||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
mājh mahalā 3 .
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਆ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
sabad marai s muā jāpai .
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad is truly dead.
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਚਾਪੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
kāl n chāpai dukh n santāpai .
Death does not crush him, and pain does not afflict him.
ਜੋਤੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
jōtī vich mil jōt samānī sun man sach samāvaniā .1.
His light merges and is absorbed into the Light, when he hears and merges in the Truth. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vārī jīu vārī har kai nāi sōbhā pāvaniā .
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Lord's Name, which brings us to glory.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur sēv sach chit lāiā guramatī sahaj samāvaniā .1. rahāu .
One who serves the True Guru, and focuses his consciousness on Truth, following the Guru's Teachings, is absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਚੀ ਕਚਾ ਚੀਰੁ ਹੰਢਾਏ ॥
kāiā kachī kachā chīr handhāē .
This human body is transitory, and transitory are the garments it wears.
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
dūjai lāgī mahal n pāē .
Attached to duality, no one attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
