ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
jis bhānā bhāvai sō tujhah samāē .
One who is pleased with Your Will is immersed in You.
ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
bhānē vich vadī vadiāī bhānā kisah karāidā .3.
Glorious greatness rests in God's Will; rare are those who accept it. ||3||
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
jā tis bhāvai tā gurū milāē .
When it pleases His Will, He leads us to meet the Guru.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
guramukh nām padārath pāē .
The Gurmukh finds the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਣਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
tudh āpanai bhānai sabh srisat upāī jis nō bhānā dēh tis bhāidā .4.
By Your Will, You created the whole Universe; those whom You bless with Your favor are pleased with Your Will. ||4||
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
manamukh andh karē chaturāī .
The blind, self-willed manmukhs practice cleverness.
ਭਾਣਾ ਨ ਮੰਨੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhānā n mannē bahut dukh pāī .
They do not surrender to the Lord's Will, and suffer terrible pain.
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
bharamē bhūlā āvai jāē ghar mahal n kabahū pāidā .5.
Deluded by doubt, they come and go in reincarnation; they never find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satigur mēlē dē vadiāī .
The True Guru brings Union, and grants glorious greatness.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥
satigur kī sēvā dhur phuramāī .
The Primal Lord ordained service to the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
satigur sēvē tā nām pāē nāmē hī sukh pāidā .6.
Serving the True Guru, the Naam is obtained. Through the Naam, one finds peace. ||6||
ਸਭ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥
sabh nāvah upajai nāvah shījai .
Everything wells up from the Naam, and through the Naam, perishes.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ॥
gur kirapā tē man tan bhījai .
By Guru's Grace, the mind and body are pleased with the Naam.
ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਸਿ ਭੀਜੈ ਰਸ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
rasanā nām dhiāē ras bhījai ras hī tē ras pāidā .7.
Meditating on the Naam, the tongue is drenched with the Lord's sublime essence. Through this essence, the Essence is obtained. ||7||
ਮਹਲੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
mahalai andar mahal kō pāē .
Rare are those who find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence within the mansion of their own body.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad sach chit lāē .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they lovingly focus their consciousness on the True Lord.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
jis nō sach dēi sōī sach pāē sachē sach milāidā .8.
Whoever the Lord blesses with Truth obtains Truth; he merges in Truth, and only Truth. ||8||
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
nām visār man tan dukh pāiā .
Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind and body suffer in pain.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
māiā mōh sabh rōg kamāiā .
Attached to the love of Maya, he earns nothing but disease.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਨਰਕੇ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
bin nāvai man tan hai kusatī narakē vāsā pāidā .9.
Without the Name, his mind and body are afflicted with leprosy, and he obtains his home in hell. ||9||
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦੇਹਾ ॥
nām ratē tin niramal dēhā .
Those who are imbued with the Naam - their bodies are immaculate and pure.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੰਸਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨੇਹਾ ॥
niramal hansā sadā sukh nēhā .
Their soul-swan is immaculate, and in the Lord's Love, they find eternal peace.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
nām salāh sadā sukh pāiā nij ghar vāsā pāidā .10.
Praising the Naam, they find eternal peace, and dwell in the home of their own inner being. ||10||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥
sabh kō vanaj karē vāpārā .
Everyone deals and trades.
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
vin nāvai sabh tōtā sansārā .
Without the Name, all the world loses.
ਨਾਗੋ ਆਇਆ ਨਾਗੋ ਜਾਸੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
nāgō āiā nāgō jāsī vin nāvai dukh pāidā .11.
Naked they come, and naked they go; without the Name, they suffer in pain. ||11||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
jis nō nām dēi sō pāē .
He alone obtains the Naam, unto whom the Lord gives it.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad har mann vasāē .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
gur kirapā tē nām vasiā ghat antar nāmō nām dhiāidā .12.
By Guru's Grace, the Naam dwells deep within the heart, and one meditates upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||12||
ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਜੇਤੀ ਸਭ ਆਈ ॥
nāvai nō lōchai jētī sabh āī .
Everyone who comes into the world, longs for the Name.
ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
nāu tinā milai dhur purab kamāī .
They alone are blessed with the Name, whose past actions were so ordained by the Primal Lord.
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
jinī nāu pāiā sē vadabhāgī gur kai sabad milāidā .13.
Those who obtain the Name are very fortunate. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are united with God. ||13||
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
kāiā kōt at apārā .
Utterly incomparable is the fortress of the body.
ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
tis vich bah prabh karē vīchārā .
Within it, God sits in contemplation.
ਸਚਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਸਚੋ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
sachā niāu sachō vāpārā nihachal vāsā pāidā .14.
He administers true justice, and trades in Truth; through Him, one finds the eternal, unchanging dwelling. ||14||
ਅੰਤਰ ਘਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
antar ghar bankē thān suhāiā .
Deep within the inner self are glorious homes and beautiful places.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
guramukh viralai kinai thān pāiā .
But rare is that person who, as Gurmukh, finds these places.
ਇਤੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
it sāth nibahai sālāhē sachē har sachā mann vasāidā .15.
If one stays in these places, and praises the True Lord, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||15||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
mārū mahalā 3 .
Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jō tudh karanā sō kar pāiā .
Whatever You do, is done.
ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
bhānē vich kō viralā āiā .
How rare are those who walk in harmony with the Lord's Will.
ਮੇਰੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਇਕ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
mērai karatai ik banat banāī .
My Creator Lord has formed this formation.
ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਵਥੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
is dēhī vich sabh vath pāī .
He has placed everything within this body.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੬॥੨੦॥
nānak nām vanajah rang rātē guramukh kō nām pāidā .16.6.20.
O Nanak, those who deal in the Naam are imbued with His Love. The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||16||6||20||
ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
bhānā mannē sō sukh pāē bhānē vich sukh pāidā .1.
One who surrenders to the Lord's Will finds peace; he finds peace in the Lord's Will. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
guramukh tērā bhānā bhāvai .
Your Will is pleasing to the Gurmukh.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
sahajē hī sukh sach kamāvai .
Practicing Truth, he intuitively finds peace.
ਭਾਣੇ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
bhānē nō lōchai bahutērī āpanā bhānā āp manāidā .2.
Many long to walk in harmony with the Lord's Will; He Himself inspires us to surrender to His Will. ||2||
ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਏ ॥
tērā bhānā mannē s milai tudh āē .
One who surrenders to Your Will, meets with You, Lord.
