ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਦੋਰਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
bikhiā kāran lab lōbh kamāvah duramat kā dōrāhā hē .9.
For the sake of poison, they act in greed and possessiveness, and evil-minded duality. ||9||
ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
pūrā satigur bhagat drirāē .
The Perfect True Guru implants devotional worship within.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad har nām chit lāē .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he lovingly centers his consciousness on the Lord's Name.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭੀਨੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
man tan har raviā ghat antar man bhīnai bhagat salāhā hē .10.
The Lord pervades his mind, body and heart; deep within, his mind is drenched with devotional worship and praise of the Lord. ||10||
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਣੁ ॥
mērā prabh sāchā asur sanghāran .
My True Lord God is the Destroyer of demons.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਣੁ ॥
gur kai sabad bhagat nisatāran .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, His devotees are saved.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
mērā prabh sāchā sad hī sāchā sir sāhā pātisāhā hē .11.
My True Lord God is forever True. He is the Emperor over the heads of kings. ||11||
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
sē bhagat sachē tērai man bhāē .
True are those devotees, who are pleasing to Your Mind.
ਦਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
dar kīratan karah gur sabad suhāē .
They sing the Kirtan of His Praises at His Door; they are embellished and exalted by the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵੇਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
sāchī bānī anadin gāvah niradhan kā nām vēsāhā hē .12.
Night and day, they sing the True Word of His Bani. The Naam is the wealth of the poor. ||12||
ਜਿਨ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jin āpē mēl vishōrah nāhī .
Those whom You unite, Lord, are never separated again.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
gur kai sabad sadā sālāhī .
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they praise You forever.
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
sabhanā sir tū ēkō sāhib sabadē nām salāhā hē .13.
You are the One Lord and Master over all. Through the Shabad, the Naam is praised. ||13||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
bin sabadai tudhunō kōī n jānī .
Without the Shabad, no one knows You.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
tudh āpē kathī akath kahānī .
You Yourself speak the Unspoken Speech.
ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਸੰਬਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
āpē sabad sadā gur dātā har nām jap sanbāhā hē .14.
You Yourself are the Shabad forever, the Guru, the Great Giver; chanting the Lord's Name, You bestow Your treasure. ||14||
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
tū āpē karatā sirajanahārā .
You Yourself are the Creator of the Universe.
ਤੇਰਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
tērā likhiā kōi n mētanahārā .
No one can erase what You have written.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
guramukh nām dēvah tū āpē sahasā ganat n tāhā hē .15.
You Yourself bless the Gurmukh with the Naam, who is no longer skeptical, and is not held to account. ||15||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
har jīu sēvih agam apārā .
Serve the Dear Lord, the inaccessible and infinite.
ਭਗਤ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਦਰਵਾਰੇ ॥
bhagat sachē tērai daravārē .
Your true devotees stand at the Door of Your Court.
ਸਬਦੇ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
sabadē sēvan bhāi piārē .
They serve the Shabad with love and affection.
ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
tis dā ant n pāīai pārāvārā .
He has no end or limitation.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਗਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
gur parasād raviā ghat antar tit ghat mat agāhā hē .1.
By Guru's Grace, one who dwells upon the Lord deep within his heart - his heart is filled with infinite wisdom. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੋਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੩॥੧੨॥
nānak nām ratē bairāgī nāmē kāraj sōhā hē .16.3.12.
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam remain detached; through the Naam, their affairs are resolved. ||16||3||12||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
sabh mah varatai ēkō sōī .
The One Lord is pervading and permeating amidst all.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur parasādī paragat hōī .
By Guru's Grace, He is revealed.
ਸਭਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਕਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦੇਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
sabhanā pratipāl karē jagajīvan dēdā rijak sanbāhā hē .2.
The Life of the world nurtures and cherishes all, giving sustenance to all. ||2||
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
pūrai satigur būjh bujhāiā .
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
hukamē hī sabh jagat upāiā .
By the Hukam of His Command, He created the entire Universe.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
hukam mannē sōī sukh pāē hukam sir sāhā pātisāhā hē .3.
Whoever submits to His Command, finds peace; His Command is above the heads of kings and emperors. ||3||
ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sachā satigur sabad apārā .
True is the True Guru. Infinite is the Word of His Shabad.
ਤਿਸ ਦੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
tis dai sabad nisatarai sansārā .
Through His Shabad, the world is saved.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਦੇਦਾ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
āpē karatā kar kar vēkhai dēdā sās girāhā hē .4.
The Creator Himself created the creation; He gazes upon it, and blesses it with breath and nourishment. ||4||
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
kōt madhē kisah bujhāē .
Out of millions, only a few understand.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad ratē rang lāē .
Imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are colored in His Love.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
har sālāhah sadā sukhadātā har bakhasē bhagat salāhā hē .5.
They praise the Lord, the Giver of peace forever; the Lord forgives His devotees, and blesses them with His Praise. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ॥
satigur sēvah sē jan sāchē .
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true.
ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚਨਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥
jō mar janmah kāchan kāchē .
The falsest of the false die, only to be reborn.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
agam agōchar vēparavāhā bhagat vashal athāhā hē .6.
The inaccessible, unfathomable, self-sufficient, incomprehensible Lord is the Lover of His devotees. ||6||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
satigur pūrā sāch drirāē .
The Perfect True Guru implants Truth within.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
sachai sabad sadā gun gāē .
Through the True Word of the Shabad, they sing His Glorious Praises forever.
ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
gunadātā varatai sabh antar sir sir likhadā sāhā hē .7.
The Giver of virtue is pervading deep within the nucleus of all beings; He inscribes the time of destiny upon each and every person's head. ||7||
ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
sadā hadūr guramukh jāpai .
The Gurmukh knows that God is always ever-present.
ਸਬਦੇ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ॥
sabadē sēvai sō jan dhrāpai .
That humble being who serves the Shabad, is comforted and fulfilled.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
anadin sēvah sachī bānī sabad sachai ōmāhā hē .8.
Night and day, he serves the True Word of the Guru's Bani; he delights in the True Word of the Shabad. ||8||
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧਾ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
agiānī andhā bah karam drirāē .
The ignorant and blind cling to all sorts of rituals.
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
manahath karam phir jōnī pāē .
They stubborn-mindedly perform these rituals, and are consigned to reincarnation.
