Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਮੈ ਛਡਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਕਸੁੰਭੈ ਭੁਲੀ ॥
mitr piārā nānak jī mai shad gavāiā rang kasunbhai bhulī .
I abandoned and lost my Beloved Friend, O Nanak; I was fooled by the transitory color of the safflower, which fades away.
ਤਉ ਸਜਣ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਉਦੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਢੁ ਨ ਲਹਦੀ ॥੧॥
tau sajan kī mai kīm n paudī hau tudh bin adh n lahadī .1.
I did not know Your value, O my Friend; without You, I am not worth even half a shell. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਸਸੁ ਵਿਰਾਇਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਉ ਸਸੁਰਾ ਵਾਦੀ ਜੇਠੋ ਪਉ ਪਉ ਲੂਹੈ ॥
sas virāin nānak jīu sasurā vādī jēthō pau pau lūhai .
My mother-in-law is my enemy, O Nanak; my father-in-law is argumentative and my brother-in-law burns me at every step.
ਹਭੇ ਭਸੁ ਪੁਣੇਦੇ ਵਤਨੁ ਜਾ ਮੈ ਸਜਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ॥੨॥
habhē bhas punēdē vatan jā mai sajan tūhai .2.
They can all just play in the dust, when You are my Friend, O Lord. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਵੁਠਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਣੋ ॥
jis tū vuthā chit tis darad nivāranō .
You relieve the pains of those, within whose consciousness You dwell, O Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਵੁਠਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਣੋ ॥
jis tū vuthā chit tis kadē n hāranō .
Those, within whose consciousness You dwell, never lose.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁ ਸਰਪਰ ਤਾਰਣੋ ॥
jis miliā pūrā gurū s sarapar tāranō .
One who meets the Perfect Guru will surely be saved.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਏ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਣੋ ॥
jis nō lāē sach tis sach samhālanō .
One who is attached to Truth, contemplates Truth.
ਜਿਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਾਲਣੋ ॥
jis āiā hath nidhān s rahiā bhālanō .
One, into whose hands the treasure comes, stops searching.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਇਕੋ ਰੰਗੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੋ ਜਾਨਣੋ ॥
jis nō ikō rang bhagat sō jānanō .
He alone is known as a devotee, who loves the One Lord.
ਓਹੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਚਾਰਣੋ ॥
ōh sabhanā kī rēn birahī chāranō .
He is the dust under the feet of all; he is the lover of the Lord's feet.
ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਾਰਣੋ ॥੧੩॥
sabh tērē chōj vidān sabh tērā kāranō .13.
Everything is Your wonderful play; the whole creation is Yours. ||13||
