Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਰਾਗ ਸੁਰੰਗੜੇ ਆਲਾਪਤ ਸਭ ਤਿਖ ਜਾਇ ॥
dhann s rāg surangarē ālāpat sabh tikh jāi .
Blessed are those beautiful Ragas which, when chanted, quench all thirst.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਜੰਤ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪਦੇ ਨਾਉ ॥
dhann s jant suhāvarē jō guramukh japadē nāu .
Blessed are those beautiful people who, as Gurmukh, chant the Name of the Lord.
ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
jinī ik man ik arādhiā tin sad balihārai jāu .
I am a sacrifice to those who single-mindedly worship and adore the One Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਹਮ ਬਾਛਦੇ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
tin kī dhūr ham bāshadē karamī palai pāi .
I yearn for the dust of their feet; by His Grace, it is obtained.
ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
jō ratē rang gōvid kai hau tin balihārai jāu .
I am a sacrifice to those who are imbued with love for the Lord of the Universe.
ਆਖਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਰਾਇ ॥
ākhā birathā jī kī har sajan mēlah rāi .
I tell them the state of my soul, and pray that I may be united with the Sovereign Lord King, my Friend.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur pūrai mēlāiā janam maran dukh jāi .
The Perfect Guru has united me with Him, and the pains of birth and death have departed.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
jan nānak pāiā agam rūp anat n kāhū jāi .1.
Servant Nanak has found the inaccessible, infinitely beautiful Lord, and he will not go anywhere else. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਘੜੀ ਧੰਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਪਲੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
dhann s vēlā gharī dhann dhan mūrat pal sār .
Blessed is that time, blessed is that hour, blessed is that second, excellent is that instant;
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੰਜੋਗੜਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਾਰੁ ॥
dhann s dinas sanjōgarā jit dithā gur darasār .
blessed is that day, and that opportunity, when I gazed upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
ਮਨ ਕੀਆ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
man kīā ishā pūrīā har pāiā agam apār .
The mind's desires are fulfilled, when the inaccessible, unfathomable Lord is obtained.
ਹਉਮੈ ਤੁਟਾ ਮੋਹੜਾ ਇਕੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
haumai tutā mōharā ik sach nām ādhār .
Egotism and emotional attachment are eradicated, and one leans only on the Support of the True Name.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲਗਾ ਸੇਵ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
jan nānak lagā sēv har udhariā sagal sansār .2.
O servant Nanak, one who is committed to the Lord's service - the whole world is saved along with him. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹਣੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ॥
siphat salāhan bhagat viralē ditīan .
How rare are those who are blessed to praise the Lord, in devotional worship.
ਸਉਪੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਪੁਛ ਨ ਲੀਤੀਅਨੁ ॥
saupē jis bhandār phir push n lītīan .
Those who are blessed with the Lord's treasures are not called to give their account again.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
jis nō lagā rang sē rang ratiā .
Those who are imbued with His Love are absorbed in ecstasy.
ਓਨਾ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਇਕਾ ਉਨ ਭਤਿਆ ॥
ōnā ikō nām adhār ikā un bhatiā .
They take the Support of the One Name; the One Name is their only food.
ਓਨਾ ਪਿਛੈ ਜਗੁ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਭੋਗਈ ॥
ōnā pishai jag bhunchai bhōgaī .
For their sake, the world eats and enjoys.
ਓਨਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਬੁ ਓਨਾਹਾ ਜੋਗਈ ॥
ōnā piārā rab ōnāhā jōgaī .
Their Beloved Lord belongs to them alone.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥
jis miliā gur āi tin prabh jāniā .
The Guru comes and meets them; they alone know God.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
hau balihārī tin j khasamai bhāniā .4.
I am a sacrifice to those who are pleasing to their Lord and Master. ||4||
