mah 5 .
Fifth Mehl:
ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥
vin tudh hōr j manganā sir dukhā kai dukh .
To ask for any other than You, Lord, is the most miserable of miseries.
ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ॥
dēh nām santōkhīā utarai man kī bhukh .
Please bless me with Your Name, and make me content; may the hunger of my mind be satisfied.
ਗੁਰਿ ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਨੁਖ ॥੨॥
gur van tin hariā kītiā nānak kiā manukh .2.
The Guru has made the woods and meadows green again. O Nanak, is it any wonder that He blesses human beings as well? ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥
sō aisā dātār manah n vīsarai .
Such is that Great Giver; may I never forget Him from my mind.
ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾ ਸਰੈ ॥
gharī n muhat chasā tis bin nā sarai .
I cannot survive without Him, for an instant, for a moment, for a second.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੁਕਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
antar bāhar sang kiā kō luk karai .
Inwardly and outwardly, He is with us; how can we hide anything from Him?
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥
jis pat rakhai āp sō bhavajal tarai .
One whose honor He Himself has preserved, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
bhagat giānī tapā jis kirapā karai .
He alone is a devotee, a spiritual teacher, and a disciplined pratictioner of meditation, whom the Lord has so blessed.
ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਲੁ ਧਰੈ ॥
sō pūrā paradhān jis nō bal dharai .
He alone is perfect and renowned as supreme, whom the Lord has blessed with His power.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਰਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ॥
jisah jarāē āp sōī ajar jarai .
He alone endures the unendurable, whom the Lord inspires to endure it.
ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
tis hī miliā sach mantr gur man dharai .3.
And he alone meets the True Lord, within whose mind the Guru's Mantra is implanted. ||3||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
salōk mah 5 .
Shalok, Fifth Mehl:
ਭੀੜਹੁ ਮੋਕਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਰਖੇ ਕੁਟੰਬੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
bhīrah mōkalāī kītīan sabh rakhē kutanbai nāl .
He has widened the narrow path for me, and preserved my integrity, along with that of my family.
ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਾਲਿ ॥
kāraj āp savārian sō prabh sadā sabhāl .
He Himself has arranged and resolved my affairs. I dwell upon that God forever.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਲਹੁੜੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
prabh māt pitā kanth lāidā lahurē bālak pāl .
God is my mother and father; He hugs me close in His embrace, and cherishes me, like His tiny baby.
ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
daiāl hōē sabh jī jantr har nānak nadar nihāl .1.
All beings and creatures have become kind and compassionate to me. O Nanak, the Lord has blessed me with His Glance of Grace. ||1||
