ਕਿਸੁ ਭਰਵਾਸੈ ਬਿਚਰਹਿ ਭਵਨ ॥
kis bharavāsai bicharah bhavan .
What supports you in this world?
ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਕਵਨ ॥
mūr mugadh tērā sangī kavan .
You ignorant fool, who is your companion?
ਰਾਮੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
rām sangī tis gat nahī jānah .
The Lord is your only companion; no one knows His condition.
ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ਸੇ ਮੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥੧॥
panch batavārē sē mīt kar mānah .1.
You look upon the five thieves as your friends. ||1||
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
sō ghar sēv jit udharah mīt .
Serve that home, which will save you, my friend.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਰਵੀਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gun gōvind ravīah din rātī sādhasang kar man kī prīt .1. rahāu .
Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, day and night; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, love Him in your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਹਾਨੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਅਰੁ ਵਾਦਿ ॥
janam bihānō ahankār ar vād .
This human life is passing away in egotism and conflict.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
tripat n āvai bikhiā sād .
You are not satisfied; such is the flavor of sin.
ਭਰਮਤ ਭਰਮਤ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bharamat bharamat mahā dukh pāiā .
Wandering and roaming around, you suffer terrible pain.
ਤਰੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਦੁਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
tarī n jāī dutar māiā .2.
You cannot cross over the impassable sea of Maya. ||2||
ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
kām n āvai s kār kamāvai .
You do the deeds which do not help you at all.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
āp bīj āpē hī khāvai .
As you plant, so shall you harvest.
ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
rākhan kau dūsar nahī kōi .
There is none other than the Lord to save you.
ਤਉ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਜਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
tau nisatarai jau kirapā hōi .3.
You will be saved, only if God grants His Grace. ||3||
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
patit punīt prabh tērō nām .
Your Name, God, is the Purifier of sinners.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
apanē dās kau kījai dān .
Please bless Your slave with that gift.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
kar kirapā prabh gat kar mērī .
Please grant Your Grace, God, and emancipate me.
ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੮॥
saran gahī nānak prabh tērī .4.37.48.
Nanak has grasped Your Sanctuary, God. ||4||37||48||
