Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
pūrai bhāg satigur pāīai jē har prabh bakhas karēi .
By perfect destiny, one finds the True Guru, if the Lord God grants forgiveness.
ਓਪਾਵਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਓਪਾਉ ਹੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
ōpāvā sir ōpāu hai nāu parāpat hōi .
Of all efforts, the best effort is to attain the Lord's Name.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
andar sītal sānht hai hiradai sadā sukh hōi .
It brings a cooling, soothing tranquility deep within the heart, and eternal peace.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਪੈਨ੍ਹਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
anmrit khānā painhanā nānak nāi vadiāī hōi .1.
Then, one eats and wears the Ambrosial Nectar; O Nanak, through the Name, comes glorious greatness. ||1||

Third Mehl:
ਏ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਿ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
ē man gur kī sikh sun pāih gunī nidhān .
O mind, listening to the Guru's Teachings, you shall obtain the treasure of virtue.
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
sukhadātā tērai man vasai haumai jāi abhimān .
The Giver of peace shall dwell in your mind; you shall be rid of egotism and pride.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
nānak nadarī pāīai anmrit gunī nidhān .2.
O Nanak, by His Grace, one is blessed with the Ambrosial Nectar of the treasure of virtue. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਖਾਨ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਸਿਕਦਾਰ ਹਹਿ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ॥
jitanē pātisāh sāh rājē khān umarāv sikadār hah titanē sabh har kē kīē .
The kings, emperors, rulers, lords, nobles and chiefs, are all created by the Lord.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਓਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਅਰਥੀਏ ॥
jō kish har karāvai s ōi karah sabh har kē arathīē .
Whatever the Lord causes them to do, they do; they are all beggars, dependent on the Lord.
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਵਲਿ ਹੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਵਰਨ ਚਾਰੇ ਖਾਣੀ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਗੋਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣ ਕਉ ਦੀਏ ॥
sō aisā har sabhanā kā prabh satigur kai val hai tin sabh varan chārē khānī sabh srisat gōlē kar satigur agai kār kamāvan kau dīē .
Such is God, the Lord of all; He is on the True Guru's side. All castes and social classes, the four sources of creation, and the whole universe are slaves of the True Guru; God makes them work for Him.
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਕੀ ਐਸੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੀ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢੀਏ ॥
har sēvē kī aisī vadiāī dēkhah har santah jin vichah kāiā nagarī dusaman dūt sabh mār kadhīē .
See the glorious greatness of serving the Lord, O Saints of the Lord; He has conquered and driven all the enemies and evil-doers out of the body-village.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਏ ॥੬॥
har har kirapāl hōā bhagat janā upar har āpanī kirapā kar har āp rakh līē .6.
The Lord, Har, Har, is Merciful to His humble devotees; granting His Grace, the Lord Himself protects and preserves them. ||6||
