ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਬ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
sukh sāgar prabh pāīai jab hōvai bhāgō rām .
One finds God, the Ocean of Peace, when destiny is activated.
ਮਾਨਨਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
mānan mān vañāīai har charanī lāgō rām .
Abandoning the distinctions of honor and dishonor, grasp the Feet of the Lord.
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਚਾਤੁਰੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਿਆਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
shōd siānap chāturī duramat budh tiāgō rām .
Renounce cleverness and trickery, and forsake your evil-minded intellect.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਹਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
nānak pau saranāī rām rāi thir hōi suhāgō rām .1.
O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord, Your King, and your marriage will be permanent and stable. ||1||
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਜਿ ਕਤ ਲਾਗੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
sō prabh taj kat lāgīai jis bin mar jāīai rām .
Why forsake God, and attach yourself to another? Without the Lord, you cannot even live.
ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਬਿਰਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
lāj n āvai agiān matī durajan biramāīai rām .
The ignorant fool does not feel any shame; the evil man wanders around deluded.
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
patit pāvan prabh tiāg karē kah kat thaharāīai rām .
God is the Purifier of sinners; if he forsakes God, tell me, where he can find a place of rest?
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਕੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
nānak bhagat bhāu kar daiāl kī jīvan pad pāīai rām .2.
O Nanak, by loving devotional worship of the Merciful Lord, he attains the state of eternal life. ||2||
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਨ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਬਲਿ ਗਈਏ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
srī gōpāl n ucharah bal gaīē duhachāran rasanā rām .
May that vicious tongue that does not chant the Name of the Great Lord of the World, be burnt.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਨਹ ਸੇਵਹੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਕ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
prabh bhagat vashal nah sēvahī kāiā kāk grasanā rām .
One who does not serve God, the Lover of His devotees, shall have his body eaten by crows.
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਬਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhram mōhī dūkh n jānahī kōt jōnī basanā rām .
Enticed by doubt, he does not understand the pain it brings; he wanders through millions of incarnations.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਜਿ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਭਸਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
nānak bin har avar j chāhanā bisatā krim bhasamā rām .3.
O Nanak, if you desire anything other than the Lord, you shall be consumed, like a maggot in manure. ||3||
ਲਾਇ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
lāi birah bhagavant sangē hōi mil bairāgan rām .
Embrace love for the Lord God, and in detachment, unite with Him.
ਚੰਦਨ ਚੀਰ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਰਸਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
chandan chīr sugandh rasā haumai bikh tiāgan rām .
Give up your sandalwood oil, expensive clothes, perfumes, tasty flavors and the poison of egotism.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
īt ūt nah dōlīai har sēvā jāgan rām .
Do not waver this way or that, but remain wakeful in the service of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾ ਅਟਲ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
nānak jin prabh pāiā āpanā sā atal suhāgan rām .4.1.4.
O Nanak, she who has obtained her God, is a happy soul-bride forever. ||4||1||4||
