ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
sāchā nām sāchai sabad jānai .
The True Name is known through the True Word of the Shabad.
ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੈ ॥
āpai āp milai chūkai abhimānai .
The Lord Himself meets that one who eradicates egotistical pride.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥੫॥
guramukh nām sadā sadā vakhānai .5.
The Gurmukh chants the Naam, forever and ever. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਦੂਜੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
satigur sēviai dūjī duramat jāī .
Serving the True Guru, duality and evil-mindedness are taken away.
ਅਉਗਣ ਕਾਟਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮਤਿ ਖਾਈ ॥
augan kāt pāpā mat khāī .
Guilty mistakes are erased, and the sinful intellect is cleansed.
ਕੰਚਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੬॥
kanchan kāiā jōtī jōt samāī .6.
One's body sparkles like gold, and one's light merges into the Light. ||6||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satigur miliai vadī vadiāī .
Meeting with the True Guru, one is blessed with glorious greatness.
ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
dukh kātai hiradai nām vasāī .
Pain is taken away, and the Naam comes to dwell within the heart.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
nām ratē sadā sukh pāī .7.
Imbued with the Naam, one finds eternal peace. ||7||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
guramat māniā karanī sār .
Obeying the Gur's instructions, one's actions are purified.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
guramat māniā mōkh duār .
Obeying the Guru's Instructions, one finds the state of salvation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥੮॥੧॥੩॥
nānak guramat māniā paravārai sādhār .8.1.3.
O Nanak, those who follow the Guru's Teachings are saved, along with their families. ||8||1||3||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਜਗੁ ਕਊਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਚੁੰਚ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
jag kaūā mukh chunch giān .
The world is like a crow; with its beak, it croaks spiritual wisdom.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
antar lōbh jhūth abhimān .
But deep within there is greed, falsehood and pride.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਾਜੁ ਲਹਗੁ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ॥੧॥
bin nāvai pāj lahag nidān .1.
Without the Name of the Lord, your thin outer covering shall wear off, you fool. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
satigur sēv nām vasai man chīt .
Serving the True Guru, the Naam shall dwell in your conscious mind.
ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਹੋਰ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur bhētē har nām chētāvai bin nāvai hōr jhūth parīt .1. rahāu .
Meeting with the Guru, the Name of the Lord comes to mind. Without the Name, other loves are false. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਾ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ॥
gur kahiā sā kār kamāvah .
So do that work, which the Guru tells you to do.
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ॥
sabad chīnh sahaj ghar āvah .
Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, you shall come to the home of celestial bliss.
ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਵਡਾਈ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥
sāchai nāi vadāī pāvah .2.
Through the True Name, you shall obtain glorious greatness. ||2||
ਆਪਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਲੋਕ ਬੁਝਾਵੈ ॥
āp n būjhai lōk bujhāvai .
One who does not understand his own self, but still tries to instruct others,
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
man kā andhā andh kamāvai .
is mentally blind, and acts in blindness.
ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਠਉਰੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
dar ghar mahal thaur kaisē pāvai .3.
How can he ever find a home and a place of rest, in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence? ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
har jīu sēvīai antarajāmī .
Serve the Dear Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts;
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
ghat ghat antar jis kī jōt samānī .
deep within each and every heart, His Light is shining forth.
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਕਿਆ ਚਲੈ ਪਹਨਾਮੀ ॥੪॥
tis nāl kiā chalai pahanāmī .4.
How can anyone hide anything from Him? ||4||
