ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਲੁ ਢੋਵਉ ਇਹ ਸੀਸ ਕਰਿ ਕਰ ਪਗ ਪਖਲਾਵਉ ॥
jal dhōvau ih sīs kar kar pag pakhalāvau .
I carry water on my head, and with my hands I wash their feet.
ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬੇਰੀਆ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
bār jāu lakh bērīā daras pēkh jīvāvau .1.
Tens of thousands of times, I am a sacrifice to them; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I live. ||1||
ਕਰਉ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
karau manōrath manai māh apanē prabh tē pāvau .
The hopes which I cherish in my mind - my God fulfills them all.
ਦੇਉ ਸੂਹਨੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਬੀਜਨੁ ਢੋਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dēu sūhanī sādh kai bījan dhōlāvau .1. rahāu .
With my broom, I sweep the homes of the Holy Saints, and wave the fan over them. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਤ ਬੋਲਤੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨਹਿ ਪੀਲਾਵਉ ॥
anmrit gun sant bōlatē sun manah pīlāvau .
The Saints chant the Ambrosial Praises of the Lord; I listen, and my mind drinks it in.
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਉ ॥੨॥
uā ras mah sānht tripat hōi bikhai jalan bujhāvau .2.
That sublime essence calms and soothes me, and quenches the fire of sin and corruption. ||2||
ਜਬ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
jab bhagat karah sant mandalī tinh mil har gāvau .
When the galaxy of Saints worship the Lord in devotion, I join them, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਕਰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੩॥
karau namasakār bhagat jan dhūr mukh lāvau .3.
I bow in reverence to the humble devotees, and apply the dust of their feet to my face. ||3||
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਜਪਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਵਉ ॥
ūthat baithat japau nām ih karam kamāvau .
Sitting down and standing up, I chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; this is what I do.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੫੧॥
nānak kī prabh bēnatī har saran samāvau .4.21.51.
This is Nanak's prayer to God, that he may merge in the Lord's Sanctuary. ||4||21||51||
