ਸੂਹੈ ਵੇਸਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦਝਿ ਮੁਈ ਗਾਵਾਰਿ ॥
sūhai vēs pir kinai n pāiō manamukh dajh muī gāvār .
By wearing her red dress, no one has found her Husband Lord; the self-willed manmukh is burnt to death.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਗਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
satigur miliai sūhā vēs gaiā haumai vichah mār .
Meeting the True Guru, she discards her red dress, and eradicates egotism from within.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਲਾਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
man tan ratā lāl hōā rasanā ratī gun sār .
Her mind and body are imbued with the deep red color of His Love, and her tongue is imbued, singing His Praises and excellences.
ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
sadā sōhāgan sabad man bhai bhāi karē sīgār .
She becomes His soul-bride forever, with the Word of the Shabad in her mind; she makes the Fear of God and the Love of God her ornaments and decorations.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
nānak karamī mahal pāiā pir rākhiā ur dhār .1.
O Nanak, by His Merciful Grace, she obtains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and keeps Him enshrined in her heart. ||1||

ਮੁੰਧੇ ਸੂਹਾ ਪਰਹਰਹੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
mundhē sūhā paraharah lāl karah sīgār .
O bride, forsake your red dress, and decorate yourself with the crimson color of His Love.
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
āvan jānā vīsarai gur sabadī vīchār .
Your comings and goings shall be forgotten, contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮੁੰਧ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥
mundh suhāvī sōhanī jis ghar sahaj bhatār .
The soul-bride is adorned and beautiful; the Celestial Lord, her Husband, abides in her home.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਰਾਵੇ ਰਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
nānak sā dhan rāvīai rāvē rāvanahār .2.
O Nanak, the bride ravishes and enjoys Him; and He, the Ravisher, ravishes and enjoys her. ||2||

ਮੋਹੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਰਤਾ ॥
mōh kūr kutanb hai manamukh mugadh ratā .
The foolish, self-willed manmukh is engrossed in false attachment to family.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਏ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਲਿਤਾ ॥
haumai mērā kar muē kish sāth n litā .
Practicing egotism and self-conceit, he dies and departs, taking nothing along with him.
ਸਿਰ ਉਪਰਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿਤਾ ॥
sir upar jamakāl n sujhaī dūjai bharamitā .
He does not understand that the Messenger of Death is hovering over his head; he is deluded by duality.
ਫਿਰਿ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
phir vēlā hath n āvaī jamakāl vas kitā .
This opportunity will not come into his hands again; the Messenger of Death will seize him.
ਜੇਹਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਿਤਾ ॥੫॥
jēhā dhur likh pāiōn sē karam kamitā .5.
He acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||5||

ਸੂਹਵੀਏ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਛਡਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sūhavīē sūhā vēs shad tū tā pir lagī piār .
O red-robed woman, discard your red dress, and then, you shall come to love your Husband Lord.
