Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਸੂਹੈ ਵੇਸਿ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sūhai vēs kāman kulakhanī jō prabh shōd par purakh dharē piār .
The red-robed bride is vicious; she forsakes God, and cultivates love for another man.
ਓਸੁ ਸੀਲੁ ਨ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਝੂਠੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਮ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
ōs sīl n sanjam sadā jhūth bōlai manamukh karam khuār .
She has neither modesty or self-discipline; the self-willed manmukh constantly tells lies, and is ruined by the bad karma of evil deeds.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥
jis pūrab hōvai likhiā tis satigur milai bhatār .
She who has such pre-ordained destiny, obtains the True Guru has her Husband.
ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਧਰੇ ਗਲਿ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਖਿਮਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
sūhā vēs sabh utār dharē gal pahirai khimā sīgār .
She discards all her red dresses, and wears the ornaments of mercy and forgiveness around her neck.
ਪੇਈਐ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਸੈਸਾਰੁ ॥
pēīai sāhurai bah sōbhā pāē tis pūj karē sabh saisār .
In this world and the next, she receives great honor, and the whole world worships her.
ਓਹ ਰਲਾਈ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਰਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
ōh ralāī kisai dī nā ralai jis rāvē sirajanahār .
She who is enjoyed by her Creator Lord stands out, and does not blend in with the crowd.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
nānak guramukh sadā suhāganī jis avināsī purakh bharatār .1.
O Nanak, the Gurmukh is the happy soul-bride forever; she has the Imperishable Lord God as her Husband. ||1||

First Mehl:
ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਿਸੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਾਗੇ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥
sūhā rang supanai nisī bin tāgē gal hār .
The red color is like a dream in the night; it is like a necklace without a string.
ਸਚਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠ ਕਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
sachā rang majīth kā guramukh braham bīchār .
The Gurmukhs take on the permanent color, contemplating the Lord God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੀ ਸਭਿ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
nānak prēm mahā rasī sabh buriāīā shār .2.
O Nanak, with the supreme sublime essence of the Lord's Love, all sins and evil deeds are turned to ashes. ||2||

Pauree:
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਨੁ ॥
ih jag āp upāiōn kar chōj vidān .
He Himself created this world, and staged this wondrous play.
ਪੰਚ ਧਾਤੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
panch dhāt vich pāīan mōh jhūth gumān .
Into the body of the five elements, He infused attachment, falsehood and self-conceit.
ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਭਵਾਈਐ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
āvai jāi bhavāīai manamukh agiān .
The ignorant, self-willed manmukh comes and goes, wandering in reincarnation.
ਇਕਨਾ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਓਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
ikanā āp bujhāiōn guramukh har giān .
He Himself teaches some to become Gurmukh, through the spiritual wisdom of the Lord.
ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਓਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥
bhagat khajānā bakhasiōn har nām nidhān .4.
He blesses them with the treasure of devotional worship, and the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||4||
