ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik ōunkār satigur prasād .
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
urajh rahiō bikhiā kai sangā .
He is entangled in sinful associations;
ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
manah biāpat anik tarangā .1.
his mind is troubled by so very many waves. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥ ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mērē man agam agōchar . kat pāīai pūran paramēsar .1. rahāu .
O my mind, how can the Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord be found? He is the Perfect Transcendent Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥
mōh magan mah rahiā biāpē .
He remains entangled in the intoxication of worldly love.
ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
at trisanā kabahū nahī dhrāpē .2.
His excessive thirst is never quenched. ||2||
ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
basai karōdh sarīr chandārā .
Anger is the outcaste which hides within his body;
ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
agiān n sūjhai mahā gubārā .3.
he is in the utter darkness of ignorance, and he does not understand. ||3||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥
bhramat biāpat jarē kivārā .
Afflicted by doubt, the shutters are shut tight;
ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
jān n pāīai prabh darabārā .4.
he cannot go to God's Court. ||4||
ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
āsā andēsā bandh parānā .
The mortal is bound and gagged by hope and fear;
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
mahal n pāvai phirat bigānā .5.
he cannot find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and so he wanders around like a stranger. ||5||
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
sagal biādh kai vas kar dīnā .
He falls under the power of all negative influences;
ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥
phirat piās jiu jal bin mīnā .6.
he wanders around thirsty like a fish out of water. ||6||
ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
kashū siānap ukat n mōrī .
I have no clever tricks or techniques;
ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥
ēk ās thākur prabh tōrī .7.
You are my only hope, O my Lord God Master. ||7||
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
karau bēnatī santan pāsē .
Nanak offers this prayer to the Saints
ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੮॥
mēl laih nānak aradāsē .8.
- please let me merge and blend with You. ||8||
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhaiō kripāl sādhasang pāiā .
God has shown Mercy, and I have found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
nānak tripatē pūrā pāiā .1. rahāu dūjā .1.
Nanak is satisfied, finding the Perfect Lord. ||1||Second Pause||1||
