ਤੁਮ ਚੰਦਨ ਹਮ ਇਰੰਡ ਬਾਪੁਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
tum chandan ham irand bāpurē sang tumārē bāsā .
You are sandalwood, and I am the poor castor oil plant, dwelling close to you.
ਨੀਚ ਰੂਖ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਗੰਧ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
nīch rūkh tē ūch bhaē hai gandh sugandh nivāsā .1.
From a lowly tree, I have become exalted; Your fragrance, Your exquisite fragrance now permeates me. ||1||
ਮਾਧਉ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥
mādhau satasangat saran tumhārī .
O Lord, I seek the Sanctuary of the company of Your Saints;
ਹਮ ਅਉਗਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham augan tumh upakārī .1. rahāu .
I am worthless, and You are so benevolent. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮ ਮਖਤੂਲ ਸੁਪੇਦ ਸਪੀਅਲ ਹਮ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਜਸ ਕੀਰਾ ॥
tum makhatūl supēd sapīal ham bapurē jas kīrā .
You are the white and yellow threads of silk, and I am like a poor worm.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਮਾਧਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਧੁਪ ਮਖੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
satasangat mil rahīai mādhau jaisē madhup makhīrā .2.
O Lord, I seek to live in the Company of the Saints, like the bee with its honey. ||2||
ਜਾਤੀ ਓਛਾ ਪਾਤੀ ਓਛਾ ਓਛਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
jātī ōshā pātī ōshā ōshā janam hamārā .
My social status is low, my ancestry is low, and my birth is low as well.
ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਚਮਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੩॥
